Carol, 29 May 2014So, as i promised. Small review made by me, after 10 years ... morei'm starting to wonder y u even bought a windows phone when u already know how it runs what with all the reviews from the web and youtube. Y didn't u just get the 808? What was the main difference that u chose to buy the 1020 over the 808? I have been using a second hand lumia 820 for a month now. Much of what u whine about doesn't happen to my 820. And u already know it doesn't have usb on the go before u bought it. Just now, there's an awesome file manager released by windows and i just got it and it's a llt like symbian's. Yes, the multitasking will never b as good as symbian's but at least u can say android and ios doesn't have it, too. And the glass has a scratch already?? It's corning glass like the one on my unscratchable 808. I'm not very good in handling my n8 and even the 808 but they never have scratches. What did u do to have that scratch already? Don't take this much personally, we're just comparing notes.

MdN8, 29 May 2014Yes. You do. :-)So, as i promised. Small review made by me, after 10 years of Symbian, Nokia 1020 first phone i have to pay for with other platform.
The device just looks great feels great, is just a masterpiece. But, i don'T know how come, my screen already got scratched (am quite pissed about that), not something to pup in your eyes but, something that tells me i need to buy a cover (I HATE COVERS). This is all about external hardware.
System is without lag, is just fast. Unfortunately battery sucks, big time, i mean, maybe an Android user will be pleased with one day of use, i'm not. In standby doesn't eat more then 1% per 5 hours but just using the device you can see battery drain like a glass of bear. 15% in just one hour while just playing in settings and stuff (no net, no big light on screen, no games). With my usage i can't get more then 23 hours from it. Funny is that consumes more when just zapping through menu then making calls.
Missing: Coming from N8 and Symbian, it's quite 'dumb' sort of saying. But not something really really bad. TRUE MULTITASKING (while has one good enough, leaving an app and returning back to it will not give you the true multitasking feeling, is more like a shortcut saved in RAM, cause every time you come back, it's reloading (keep in mind, not all apps are doing so, mostly is the browser). Not that ios or android are better. This are just children in front of Symbian multitasking. No usb on the go. No Profiles (i miss profiles ALLOT, SItuations was one of my fav. app for profiles), in this area windows phone really is bad, i don't know others but coming to profiles SYMBIAN RULES...again. That volume rocker is dumb and some times you can find your self in a situation when you don't here your phone ringing cause you accidental pressed it and the whole ringing system has gone mute. In wp 8.1 is the same, is just that you are able to lower apps sound without affecting the ringing system anymore. So, imagine how worse before was...This is a matter of lacking the freaqin profiles. No battery full sound. No battery charging light. No folders, no possibility to hide apps you don't use or even organize them in menu. More then 30 apps will be a total chaos. File sharing via bluetooth limited and dumb, you have to tur on bluetooth to be able to send files through it, otherwise the option will not show up in sending menu. Unable to put a name on your bluetooth. So more wp devices near you will be another chaos cause all of them will be called Windows Phone (only way to solve this is to rename your whole device via PC when pluging the device via usb). Can't backup contacts in the device, no real backup at all. What backs up, backs up chaotically. So i can't call that a backup, but more like a cloud sync. No file manager, i miss my x-plore. There are managers that can be found in store. But i can call them more then uselessssss. Of course, this is cause of the system and not cause of the app it self. Other will be coming soon... Of course, there are good stuf to:).

You can install signed apps if the phone isn't hacked. But for unsigned apps phone needs to be hacked, it's simple and not dangerous.
Internal storage is 16GB and to the user a little less is available, around 15. You can install apps and themes on it, even on memory card if you want.
As for video, N8 can record and play mp4 videos in HD, graphics card is really good, but some formats and bitrates might not work.

i have solved av tv out problem. only video out possible sound does not. here are the procces. in tv out cable like 75u.. at 3.5 mm jack side u found four contect only no three contect are for video out all other must be common. and u will find tv out working. i hope u understande. sorry for poor english.

Hi I'm going to buy N8. I have never used a Symbian phones so I would like some details about it.
1. What is the difference between a signed app and an unsigned app? Can I install signed applications without hacking the N8?
2. What is the available internal storage in N8?
3. Is it possible to play full HD videos in N8?
Any help would be appreciated.

Anonymous, 26 May 2014my n8 is taking 2 hours to charge (with 2g on and brightnes... moreRecently i replaced my charger with a charger of lumia, which is to be plugged in the usb slot, at the left of N8. I can say, now my N8 gets charged with lightening speed. No issues at all. It takes max an hour to charge from 0% to 100%. So, i recommend u a usb universal original Nokia charger, then u wont have any issues which u are facing just now.

It however recently stopped registering the SIM card-SIM card registration failed- and stopped making/receiving calls,or texting, I can still do everything else including using the FM transmitter. It's so cool to be able to play music in my car straight from my phone.

the only reason i am still using nokia N8 is because of its FM transmitter. no other reason.

my n8 is taking 2 hours to charge (with 2g on and brightness minimum) and lasts for about 30 hours (with 2g on and brightness minimum)..its 3 yrs old...is battery performance ok...or battery needs to be replaced?

jacqui, 24 May 2014i bought the phone in the inited kingdom am in south Africa... moreIf the phone is locked to some operator's network, you have to find someone who unlocks phones. It will cost you a little because unlock codes have to be bought and it's not completely legal.
