b... morenowadays gprs term refers to any data transfer in your hp, even when u use edge or something else.
2g 2,5g 3g 4g and so on refers to the whole system.

In USA, T-Mobile, When you try to upgrade by calling, they do not recognize N8, because it is not selling in their stores.
You have to take it to a local T-Mobile store and show them that N8 is fully compatible with their 3G network.
Otherwise, they most likely will give you 2.5 G (GPRS) Data.
That's what T-Mobile usually do with the phones that are not sold in T-Mobile.

Ray, that's not a problem...
I don't like to brag, but I'm an expert and I will tell you what's the problem of not connecting to 3G.j
It always happens when you upgrade by a phone call.
They don't know N8 in USA t-mobile so they automatically give the casumers GPRS data instead of HSDPA.
So take it to t-mobile and let them understand that N8 is fully able of 3G access.

How c... more First tap on or near to the battery meter. A pop-up window should appear. Tap on the battery icon and check to see if power save mode is active.
If that don't work, make sure you have got the correct internet and mms settings from your operator then goto Settings > Connectivity > Admin. Settings > Packet data and make sure Access point is set to your service providers Access point name, and while your there set High Speed Packet Access to Enabled.

Over time the 3.5 mm jack will loosen up.

guys...i decided to sell my n8 and pay 4k difference and get a new problem free n8.on the way i stopped at nokia care and guess what,the new batch of LCDs have come and they changed mine.the purple tint issue is GONE.and another miraculous thing is that they have done the whole process without a single scratch.OH man i am so bloody happy :) :) i am from hyderabad,India and guys here can go to MOBI QUEST care at ameerpet and have their defective LCDS changed
