Very cynical about this phone, had the iphone 4, blackberry 9780 and blackberry 9800 all very good phone but the Nokia is the phone for me.... Its different to the others and a very under estimated phone by comparison! Symbian S60 i agree is over complicated and difficult to use sometimes but the hardware is cutting edge and superior to anything else on the market.

nokia released a memo worldwide regarding the amoled problem. They are now accepting repairs at all nokia care centers. Nokia centers here in the philippines are now accepting repairs. My friend's wife had the amoled problem, he left his wife's unit for a couple of days and when he picked it up, the unit's screen was normal. No purplish/reddish shade.

Pre-historic, 14 Mar 2011The thing is..if you're only after the camera of N8, it is ... morewell for what i paid for the n8, is not just the camera. My n8 also acts as my GPS unit, media hub, web browser, FM transmitter, and my casual entertainment device (games). With these plus with features like USB-OTG and HDMI, it is definitely worth my money.

Expensive? What, seriously? In malaysia an n8 is 2/3 of an average android device and 2X less than an iphone 4g.

is just to easy to vote 1.1.1 for a device in gsmarena. Just look at how low the iphone 4g rating is.
And you dont expect me to lug a dedicated compact wherever i go, do you? What about those on the spot moments?
If you can find a camera which has wifi, gps, acts as a media hub, able to plug in pendrives, etc, i would eat my hat. If you cant, let me enjoy my n8

Okay. Enough with these debates. Who among you have sent your broken N8 to a Nokia Care for repair? I've heard they are already accepting warranted repair of N8's affected with this AMOLED problem.

Right? With all the features of truly dedicated camera. N8 is built as a phone, not as a dedicated camera. Hence you should get what you paid for as a package and not simply due to the camera. Most Nokia admirers lost trust in Nokia in this matter. They feel betrayed because they don't get what they paid for. Just for instance this N8 which is the most expensive phone, the highest interest rate, but the RATING goes down and down, with lots of faults and defects being complained by users. You don't just go for camera alone. And N8 will never match a dedicated camera for the same price range.

i have been using this handset since dec 23rd 2010. i have no problem with the same. i hope in the next update it will be able to play movies over 2GB.

people pay lot of money to buy this phone and get this piece of Sh!t. i doubt there are less that 50% defectless N8s out there.
Hey friends dont encourage others to buy phone if your phone has a defect. try to save others money atleast.

I have got N8 few days back...IN INDIA
I have same purple/reddish issue
Called Nokia care...they referred to Nokia service center as it had to be physically examined.
They said that its known with all N8 devices and Nokia doesn't consider it as fault and they cant help in this case..
PLEASE HELP !!! WHAT DO I DO NOW?

How you did take samples for your survey? my opinion you not do proper methode of statistic.
Please be fair, no perfect handset up to now since I change the handset few time a year, not because I am have alot money but I have a hand phone shop and i do trade in.
I sold more then 100 N8 but only few complain about purple/redish display, so be carefull with yr statement, if you are not in the good luck, maybe nokia will sue you and I am sure you will in the big troubles.
My opinion, the best handset at this time is Nokia N900, I got it 6 months ago and not new set but some one trade in with BB Torch.
Up to day I never think to change it since N900 is a micro PC which now we call its TAB/TABLET and again my opinion N900 is more powerfull, faster and better File Management for application then others TAB even tought others TAB have 1GHz CPU but ofcourse the display SGS is better.

about live wllppr, have u try gif file as wallpaper? its animated too.
but i think many androids user turn off that feature in order to save battery, so do not switch to android just because live wallpaper..

jo, 13 Mar 2011still under consideration to buy N8 coz i heard alot of ppl... morei have been using N8 for almost a month now. Am happy with it. No issues of purple screen. Pros :- Excellent reception, GPS, 3G calls, Very smooth touch and feed back, Good Camera (but not so good under flash light).
Cons :- had to restart atleast twice in this one month. But nothing serious.
