Nuwan, 09 Mar 2011Dear friends,
For those who wants 'lightctrl.SIS' just s... moreThat doesn't fix the defect. It merely masks it with increased brightness. There are batches of N8s out there with perfect screens. It sucks that some people have the defect while others have perfect screens of the same device.
We want a True fix for this problem from Nokia. They should issue an update to fix this problem and acknowledge the defect.

Anonymous, 09 Mar 2011so where do we get the software? have you tried it already ... moreDear friends,
For those who wants 'lightctrl.SIS' just search for it in mobile9 web site... (Under N8 software category)
Even googling for it will give you so many results because it's a very popular app...
Remember, set the brightness to 80 and see whether so called 'purple' issue remain or not...
Yes... I'm using this software for several weeks and I don't see any purple, reddish color problem what so ever...
In fact, it's a defect in software controls according to the ambient light sensor.. Once you disable it, the screen will be brighter and you'll no longer see any purple defect...!
Bye bye for the purple maniacs...!
Note that, this app will cause the battery to drain little faster because it increases the brightness level of the phone.. But I can say that difference will not be a big deal compared to the purple problem...
Just try and look for yourself...

sun, 09 Mar 2011ya,, hi nuwan,, iused 5230 ,,,read u r comment on 5233 righ... moreDear Sun,
Yeah... Just like other friend has also told, Download 'Tune wiki' player from OVI store and then install it...
It has the Manual Equalizer preset thing and most strangely when you edit equalizer their those presets will be saved in your default Nokia Music player too...!
I was so glad to have this player because before that I was so frustrated without equalizer manual controls... I'm a damn music lover and I want it to be perfect as for my taste...

It is the best hw ever produced:
12 Mpixel Camera
HD Video Recording (videos looks great even in 50" LCD)
HDMI output
USB Input for external storage
FM transmiter (listen mp3 when using rented cars).
GPS with Ovi Maps - works fine
TV with Nokia external digital TV turner (option)
There is not another phone so complete.
SW is not so updated and seamless as Android but has a lot of stuff that full all my needs.

Nuwan, 08 Mar 2011Dear Sunny, I totally agree with you on this brother... ... moreThe screen has always been the most delicate and problematic Nokia hardware. LCD dead pixels then, AMOLED gradient problem now. There are a lot of N8's affected with AMOLED gradient problem. Dark grey gradients are displayed as purple/reddish. But there are also some units with perfect screens with no gradient problem whatsoever. You're lucky if you've got one of those which doesn't have this problem. Nokia have miscalculated it. They shouldn't have used AMOLED on their phones but IPS LCD instead just like the iPhone. My main issue with Nokia over the past years has always been the screen problem. I'm so fed up now. That's why I'm now selling my N8 and getting an iPhone 4.
