rdca, 11 Feb 2011Yeah Your Right, Nokia make a wrong decision, No one Window... moreU r 100% wrong! U must go play with the new WP7 devices. It is built from the ground up and is nothing like windows mobile was. It is the most stable UI i have ever messed with. I have the HD7 and it never freezes or lags. It is hands down the best phone i ever had and I have owned 5 androids, 3 symbians, 4 old winmo devices, and an N900. The browser is like the N900, but doesn't support flash yet, the UI is better than all the competition and makes android feel dated, the OS is butter smooth just like the iphone. Seriously, keep an open mind and when u get a chance go play with one. Netflix, Zune, and Xbox

Hello guys, I'm from the America region, so far I'm been unable to update my mobile with the PR 1.1 software version, not available trough OVI suite nor trough the Software Update application in the mobile itself, any clues?
Thanks a lot in advance.

What has happened to nokia. .. Why they are going with microsoft ... They would have with android.... Again they would have improved symbain stability and user interface... Or would have developed their own os like samsung....i think meego also have some serious problems like symbain in adapting new technology and hardware so they are going with microsoft... Very bad decision... One day nokia may change their name also to microNokia there may be no nokia name at all...

Some people r supporting the lay off of symbian engineers by saying that they didn't do enough to modernize it.
But I believe that it's a company's management which is responsible for such things.
Here is my point - Who failed to innovate? Was it the employees, or management? Now, who is paying the price for the direction that highly paid ‘professionals’ in managment made? Oh, yeah … the engineers are the one’s who pay the price. And who determines that Symbian will be the code of the day? Oh, yeah … managment. And who is in charge of training current employees on new technologies? Oh, yeah … managment dictates what classes are taught, which employees go to them, and what classes they are willing to send an employee to. Who is in charge of training employees on new technologies? Mangement. That ’s why they have a training budget. But, it’s typically wasted on ‘Sensitivity Training’, ‘Environmental’, and other waste of time classes. These courses cost as much to send an employee to as teaching them Android. Who decides what phone models will make it to production? Engineers or managment? think hard on this one. I ’ll take a wild guess and say management. Who gets the big bonus if sales go high? Managers. Who gets fired if sales are low? Engineers. Engineers do what they are told. If they are told to so something foolish and they refuse, they are fired. When the product fails in the marketplace – who gets laid off? When the crap hits the fan – the ones who screwed up; are the one ’s who decide who pays the price – and that is always the engineers/laborers. Before Hector Ruiz destroyed AMD, he destroyed Motorola. Motorola USED to make chips. Hector destroyed that entire business sector. Now Freescale rose from the ashes and is doing well. Hector then destroyed AMD ’s FLASH, EPROM and microcontroller arm. Spansion rose from the ashes and is competing well. Hector destroyed the AMD chipset group, now AMD has no option but rely on other companies to make chipsets to support their products. The problem isn’t the engineers, it’s MANAGEMENT. Engineers are the one’s who have their livilihood at stake, their homes, family, bills and retirment hanging at the whim of managment. That’s reality. Engineers at Apple are not genetically modified super-humans. Apple has excellant managment.

this announcement will drag further down nokia's smartphone market share as people rather wait for nokia's wp phone or worse buy other brand.

Symbian is dead !!!
No one knows it better than the nokia employees working on symbian & that's why employees associated with symbian have started protesting against WP7. Nokia will also lay these workers off the job proving that symbian development & support is no more their aim...
