Owen, What do you think about the N80's Joystick keypad? I mean the big one in the centre? Is it durable? what happens if ur fingers touch it hardly from the bottom?

check Nokia Europe website. they have the phone update service there on the support section of N80.

take note on updating your firmware. if Cingular provided or has branded your phone with them, the Nokia update might not work. if your N80 is branded with Cingular, you should get the update from them. but if your N80 is unlocked or unbranded or open-line, then its ok to use the Nokia official update.

                  Hi ANTHONY

i dont think the wifi experiment will mess up your SIM card. the SIM has an embeded software of its own which Symbian cannot penetrate or modify in any way. If its your phone that mess up your SIM card, it should've messed up the other SIM card as well, but it did not right?

Is the other SIM also Cingular? or another provider?

if the 2nd SIM is a different provider, your own internet provider might be down that time or something. try it another time, if still same problem, call Cingular.
If the 2nd SIM is the same provider, you might want to call Cingular still and tell them about this.

Also I forgot to ask, where can I go to upgrade the firmware? Nokia's website only have the SMS accelerator update and no firmware.

                          OWEN,

Okay, i recently have 2 problems. I recently went to a cafe and tried to public Wi-Fi. I located a source and i created the access point according to it's specs. However, when I tried to browse, the page said "No Gateway Response" or something like that.

Then after that, my 2nd problem occured. After the Wi-Fi experiement didnt work, I tried using my plan's Internet service called MediaNet from Cingular. Then that didnt work neither. Now whenever I try to browse with Wi-Fi or even my Service's internet, i get a blank screen.

At first I thought it was my phone but when I put another sim-card in, I can use the service's internet just fine. Is it because of the wi-fi experiment that messed up my sim card? could it just be a sim car problem that can be fixed by replacing it with a new sim card? Please help me out. Thank you.

                              K800i, N80, N73

Ive posted about this before. ill try to remember about it as much as i can

Ive used K800i before and its really good in taking pictures. even taking close up text documents, its really perfect. the flash works so good and will amaze you. Its also fast and responsive. i also like the alarm function which allows you to set it on specific days.
But the reason that I've changed to N80 is because:

                              1) Im used to Nokia's interface and i like Nokia's organizer

                              2) The "down" direction of the joystick of K800i starts to not respond as time progress (which can be resolved by cleaning regularly).

                              3) I cant install additional software aside from Java applications

                              4) Internet browsing is not that pleasant

                              5) My network provider has no compatibility settings for video streaming (which might not be an issue to other people)

                              6) it starts to bore me in 2 months time

With N80, i really like the way the internet browser handles webpages. its fast for a mobile phone and the screen is crystal clear. wireless internet is great. streaming video and live webcast is really good. i use it to watch live tv show or live CNN while in traffic or waiting for someone. organizer is good and its calendar and notes function. screen is large enough for me (maybe not for others).

the only thing that bothers me is the slide mechanism and hopefully it will not get loose like "really really loose". mine i think is starting to get a little loose but not that bad. i saw an N80 unit in the mall where the slide is really tight like its hard to open it. im not sure if this depends on which country it was assembled. i really wish the slide was spring assisted. if Nokia made it like that, im gonna stay with N80 for a long time even if there's N95 i dont care.
other than that im happy with my N80.
the camera of course is not as good as K800i. but im not after the camera because i have a digicam thats why it doesnt bother me. i take some shots with N80 and its actually clear and decent. video is way better than K800i too.

with N73, i cant comment on this because i havent tried it yet. i assume that it has the same software and functionality because N80 and N73 both has Series 60 version 3. N73 though has better camera than N80 because its Carl Zeiss branded with auto focus which makes a big difference. but N73 does not have Wireless internet (Wifi). but if you're not after Wifi, this will not be a problem.

these are my personal opinion, each of us has different reason why we use a certain cellphone. i suggest you go to a cellphone shop and try all of them personally. if you're a sure buyer i know they will allow you to try them so you can see which phone will be perfect for your life style...

                              CHEERS!

My problems has already been solved regarding transfering pictures to my mac using USB cable, I discovered that you just have to set up the phone to transfer data mode.

Controling apps on your mac with bluetooth, I've been googlin' around, haven't find anything yet, if you find something just let me know.

mushtaq the firmware upgrades the software only... it might improve speed but not majorly.

its the processor that is responsible for the speed of the phone. and the processor is a hardware not a software or firmware.

the wireless key only depends on the setup of router. your friend's wireless router was configured with a wireless key to avoid any other person using his internet. there are some wireless signal or network that are not configured with a wireless Key.

if you're on a wireless spot with no wireless key, then it will not ask you for that.
