i love my n900. its just like bringing my laptop in this phone. browsing is a really very good experience. what you see in the desktop computer is what you also see in your n900. websites accessed are not in mobile view. can do facebook chat as well as view facebook-posted videos aside from youtube. can even play facebook games. apps are few but most have their important uses.

i will have this n900 till its dead. wont change any other phone for this. i can access freelance sites using this phone. other phones cannot so the business side in me is much more important.

definitely will be my phone forever.. a phone with a laptop features... life is just great. thanks nokia.

For the Android and iOS users, want to know what MeeGo is? Read this:

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MeeGo

          http://meego.com/

A simple comparison; Android OS is a half-breed linux while MeeGo is a full-breed linux.

[deleted post]This is not a turd, this phone is for smart guys who can and knows how to play and have control over their phone. You have purchased it so it is just right that you fully own and control it unlike maybe your Iphone4 which you can't do anything unless provided by the jobs.

For the smart owners of a real smartphone, want to have dual-boot on your N900? check this out:

Brian, 19 Nov 2010This is exactly what i was so being mad about nokia... reme... moreDude

Sorry, I don't remember you, but if I perhaps offended you, I truelly apologise.

I won't go as far as to say that Nokia as a company are dumb, I just feel that perhaps the route they've chosen to manufacture high-end, geek-drooling mobiles is lacking. To go from outright market leaders to having to play catch up in the high-end market upsets me, considering the monster phones they've given us over the years.

Samsung seems to be launching awesome new phones nearly every month, yet, a year down the line (since launch), still there's nothing to better my N900 from Nokia.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Nokias, and always have. I'm the one person I know who has always urged people to buy Nokia, but not lately, knowing that there ARE alternates out there. And the speed at which OSs like Android are developing, I feel almost embarrassed to talk highly of Symbian, especially considering what Nokia did to us with the N97!?!?

So here I am, still VERY, EXTREMELY proud (and a little fortunate) to own this awesome N900, yet, I also feel a bit frustrated that I have no "next decent" Nokia to look forward to yet. And if I were a Samsung supporter, I probably would not feel this way since the brand I'd be supporting, would be answering my calls for more! The same way Nokia used to do.

But this forum is meant to be about opinions on the device itself, so, yes, (to the dude who wants to know if this phone is value for money) It re3aly IS worthwhile, and very much worth every penny. The amount of technology, and potential within this device would really suffice for a long time coming. I will never rid myself of it, because, from a developement point of view, the N900 should be able to keep pace for some time to come. From what I've read and seen on the web, my mobile can do it all. My only restriction in forwarding my own N900 is cost of data in my country!!!

Anyway, this message, as always, is actually sent from my N900, through my standard on-device bowser, which loads full web pages, in lightning speed :-)

im gonna get a HTC Desire Z, will find out if its any better than N900 soon enough then. Capacitive, slimmer, bigger lcd is good, bad is that it got no internal storage, a 32gb µSD card is a requirement. available 32gb cards are slow, very slow compared to N900's internal 32gb, and N900 can be expanded to 64gig.

i have to say that N900 is good but there are already other flash capable units with hardware keyboard out there now. If you buy used then N900 is the best buy, if you buy new im not so sure.

it depends much on the user, geeks like me will always love the N900, but i know lotsa ppl who are quite updated on the tech front who could not be happi wit a resistive touchscreen. Ianyway. Desire Z is nice but no internal memory, card onli, will be restricted to m getting a desire Z coz i can, not coz im not happi with he N900. Its a great unit, fo rme, dont know for u...

Why i bought this pocket rocket ?

Simple. First of all i wanted to crack wireless networks and second , i didn't wan't to see some stupid guys to handle the same devide as i. You can call it whatever you want to... but this is the truth. Special things must handle by special person... or at least from those that have some knowledge. N900 is an endless journey...a journey full of happyness and of course some sadness... its a devide full of good memories that i believe no other device will give you because with the N900, always you are on the pursuit of perfection, pursuit of limitation...excitment... impossible seems nothing... if i had one chance to choose again, i would choose N900 without any second thought. The other day i managed to connect 3 memory sticks, a mouse and a keyboard...journey just begin!

Robin, 19 Nov 2010The saddest part about the N900? I've owned for 5 months no... moreto robin, rajesh, lenandes, demetrius, 0v0 and all others out there....
i have been looking at this phone since may or june as i hardly remember and from the first site it became my dream phone....:)
i researched and researched about it from wikipedia to maemo.org, from google to gsmarena and was very contented with this phone, in fact i knew many things that i even used to help out many people out there...
now the date has arrived when i am going to buy a new phone and that is tomorrow.
but now am confused weather i should buy this phone or not. i know its a great phone but i think its kind of outdated and also when i read the following article about android from a n900 user, i felt the same things that he has mentioned...here is the link to the article if you wanna read it...

                        http://danielwould.wordpress.com/2010/11/14/maemon900-to-android-htc-desire-z/

i am now also looking forward towards samsung galaxy s i9000...
please guys help me out as which phone would you prefer..
@demetrius- i know n900 is a great device but the processor of galaxy is the fastest processor till date i.e. 1 ghz and also here is the comparison of gpu of n900 and galaxy
                        nokia n900 - SGX530 (14 MPolys/s, 500Mpx/s@200 MHz)
SGS - SGX540 (35 MPolys/s, 1Gpx/s@200 MHz, Max Memory Band (GB/s) 4.2GB/s) for handheld high end mobile, portable, MID, UMPC, consumer, and automotive devices

there is a lot of gpu difference, so which phone would you prefer....

                        @rajesh and lenandes---
galaxy s has 4 inch capacitive touch screen and that to super amoled with more than 100000 apps against 500 apps of nokia n900's maemo os....which phone would you prefer...

@robin---which of the phone has more value for money...

on the other side, nokia n900 has a fm transmitter(really cool for me)

usb otg with software called HEN would be very useful for me,
and actual keyboard, kick stand and also openness....

guys please help me and suggest a phone...
                        other options are also accepted....

i am only doing this because i have joined money for more than a year to buy a great phone and i wont be able to switch to a new phone for atleast 4 more years...
so made me really confused because 'is nokia n900 a long term phone compared to galaxy s or not'

it seems that the firmware has become more stable and transitions are smoother. also there seems to be less battery drain.

The saddest part about the N900? I've owned for 5 months now, and I'm already starting to think it's outdated.

You have to appreciate marketing! This happens to me every couple of months, where I'm wooned into a new mobile device. Everything just gets better! Yet, we all want value for money, so we ask ourselves and others, am I spending my cash wisely when purchasing a specific device?

Answer is, by now, with thw different OS's out there, no device is perfect.

It takes so much research, just to make an informed decision.

This phone/tab, is awsome!!! I will NEVER rid myself of it. Exactly the reason I still own a 6680 and 5800. And also why I wish I'd never sold my 3300, 7230, 6600, N95, N91, N93 and recently, my N97. These are legends.

But I also own a BB9700 and next week, I get a SN Experia X10 Pro.

Since Nokia seems less interested in producing high spec phones, I'm beginning to lean stongly toward the opposition, which I hate to admit.

Once again Nokia, you've pulled a master stroke in developing such an awesome device, but it does not have the appeal of i-stuff or beebees!!!

We need more, we need you to look at what's happening in the market, and once again, conquer! N8? Good, but not nearly good enough!

If things keep spiralling the way they are, mark these words... "By 18 November 2011" Samsung will be the number 1 cellular manufacturer in the world, and that sucks!

Sorry to the guys looking for device info, just had to get that off my chest... I Love my N900...

If anyone wants to know, is this mobile worth forking out the cash, I'd say a big fat yes, as long as you're comfy having to use both hands most of the time.
