What is the difference between the indian and global firmware version apart from skype which is available in global version not in indian?

Yes it can.

You can flash with the global firmware and if you don't like it you can flash back to the indian without harm.

My suggestion is don't buy touch gadget with "RESISTIVE" touch screen. Its performance is very contrast compared with "CAPICATIVE" touch screen.
I have experienced on my Nokia N97 mini, and it was suck at all..

I updated my map from ovi which had 161MB capacity and my phone started showing pup-up msge: 'memory full. Delete some data before you can send or recieve data.' I discovered that my music and video files could no longer show on my media folder. I checked my mass memory and I still had over 22GB memory AVAILLABLE. But the availlable memory for my application was below 50MB. I uninstalled a few application that were not useful and my phone became whole again. The pop-up text stopped.

I have it, it reminded me of P1 Sony Erricson but N900 is better, exept the P1 had busines card scanner.

[deleted post]There is Backup app in Menu. Backup saves contacts, conversations, email account settings, desktop settings, calendar, bookmarks and list of installed apps which actually initiate their new installation on restore.
To preserve documents, pictures, videos etc. leave intact eMMC and reflash only firmware.
