nokia n900, 21 Jan 2010most of the people who bought this phone are dissapointed..... moreyou might be right about iphone opened people's eyes by taking us to the touch technology, but that's doesn't mean the iphone will always be better than the others, well, if you think so, tat's fine, but did you see many people here whom have used the 3gs, and this n900 they say the n900 is better, so enjot your iphone, and let people enjoy their n900. oh don't forget to keeping your eyes on what nokia is about to come up. good one!

        most of the people who bought this phone are dissapointed..they thought it would overcome the iphone but they are still wrong..they cant accept the fact that iphone 3gs is still better than this nokia n900..if iphone didnt been released then we would be stuck in the old lame phones that nokia produce..we should be thankful that iphone opened our eyes to the real touch technology..

            deep space bar, 21 Jan 2010you don't understand iphone can not multitask ..........IT ... moreYes right out of the box native Apps like iTunes, Safari and Mail are all open at once MULTITASKING.

            It is third party Apps which are NOT ALLOWED by restrictions deliberately placed into the OS, by jailbreaking you can remove those restrictions and enable FULL MULTITASKING of third party Apps.

            iPhone OS 4.0 should be announced on the 27th of the month, so it might become a moot point anyway.

              i'm using my N900 right now and it's been multitasking as soon as i put the battery in and powered it on
              and you do that with the iphone...... NO!! cause it wasn't designed to cause apple makes excuses for everything

                  Anonymous, 20 Jan 2010comparing iphone to N900 is really like comparing sony pla... moreWhen you say "no mutitasking" on the iPhone you are wrong.

                  It is fully capable of controlled multitasking limited to native Apps, when jailbroken it multitasks fine using the same hardware and a modified OS.

                  The hardware (CPU, RAM & Graphics) are almost identical between the N900 and the iPhone so again your comparison with the PS2 and a modern PC is also wrong.

                  You are making the basic mistake of underestimating just how powerful the iPhone 3GS actually is.

                    comparing to the standby modes of n97 and 5800xm, n900 saves more power on idle mode, (maybe because of the "power saver" option on display settings)

                      abc, 20 Jan 2010Disappointing for me again. I really thought it would work ... morecomparing iphone to N900 is really like comparing sony playstation 2 with a powerfull PC
                      PS2 is good in what was designed for (mainly entertainment) but
                      a.)is outdated
                      b.)can not be compared to powerfull PC with its versality (which includes also entertainment)

                      the same applies to comparison betwen iphone and N900

                      iphone is a very nice and fashionable phone with some (limited) smartphone capabilities (i.e. no multitasking)
                      N900 is a pocketable PC - it really gives an experience of using PC (with the way OS is constructed and it's power) + you can have it allways close to you

                      so when you comare N900 to any other devic please remember that it is not (and never ment to be) a phone - it is a very pocketable PC with 100% PC-like operating system (linux)

                        Hello,
                        The N900 does not support rSAP ( Remote SIM Access PRotocol) via Bluetooth.
                        So, it will NOT function with VW, Porch, Mercedes , Seat etc" ... !
                        Just be aware to this "small", but important fact.

                        Thx,

                            in support from my last post:

                            both devices (5800 and n900) has the minimum brightness display, back light time for 30 secs, all vibrations are off, volumes on video and music is 50% and take note, "this was not done on the same time."

                              I bought N900 and it's not an internet tablet.
                              internet tablets were N770, N800 and N810 which were not phones. This one is a phone combining all the advantages of previous models as internet tablets.
                              It's absolutely fantastic and by far the best phone ever made !!!!!!!

                                      Yes!! Everything is working fine!! (except for my question regarding SMS save to memory card of mass memory)

                                      My last "see to believe" issue is the battery life. So far, the life of the battery for maximum use in the first full charge is 90% the same as my 5800 express music. Here is a detailed comparison:

                                      (all of these are done with fully charged battery for the first time after purchase)

                                      -bluetooth off, wi-fi for 2-4 hours
                                      5800=85.7%
                                      N900=87.5%

                                      -then, music play for 2 hours (while on bus)
                                      5800=85.7%
                                      N900=75%

                                      -1 hour video play (avi)
                                      5800=85.7%
                                      n900=62.5%

                                      -on the air updates
                                      5800=71.4%
                                      n900=62.5%

                                      That is 'so far' my n900 still has 62.5% of battery while im posting this, i'll post more for updates
