    Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone has returned an N95 with the slider problem back to o2 for a replacement. It really is frustrating me for what is essentially a damn expensive phone and I want it sorted.

Am I going to be left without a phone or do they do a straight swap?

Have contacted them and despite some people saying that you can get this done at an o2 shop they said no. Anyone any proof to the contrary?

    Cheers,
    James

      2) Is the screen really not protected? i could not tell ! it seemed like it had nothing on top, unlike my N73; should i order a screen protector right away for it? Or is it better left like it is? (I don't plan on holding it in the same pocket with my keys Smile and i'm wondering if the screen protector would affect image quality / performance outdoors).

I would appreciate some answers from some N95 users!
I would like to get one on Monday, but i hope to invest my money wisely. I would hate paying premium for it now, than find out a month later that a slightly improved hardware revision would be out, fixing the slider issues. (Is this even possible?)

PS: I live in South-Eastern Europe, but i don't know yet what package version they sell here, i just know for example there is no memory card included (or a very small one - 128mb).

      Thanks!!!

Nokia N95 finally arrived where i live!
I've checked one out today! Fabulous!

Just two things that bothered me:

        1) All the N95's i've checked out had that little tiny gap between the sliding part and the base part, so pushing on the softkeys or directional keys while closed, would make it move just a millimeter or so (the sliding part moves a little towards the base and makes it seem unstable because the sliding part and the base are not perfectly fixed together while closed); do all N95's have this problem with the sliding mechanism? I've heard some users complain of some "clicking" effect that is caused by this, and some have returned their units.
The shop people selling n95's told me all units have this problem and the've seen none with "perfect" sliders; all have this slight motion where they shouldn't.
Maybe this will be handled in a future minor hardware revision improvement or is this the way N95 is supposed to be?
Would you see, in light of this, buying a n95 as a good idea?

          Hi everyone

im now on my 3rd Nokia N95 during the last 2 weeks!

the first 2 handsets had high pitch whining noise and awful sliders which were wobbling on the right hand side, appalling workmanship, i don't even know how they were allowed to leave the Nokia Factory like this!
maybe the workers were all drunk or something?
it isn't only me thats complained of these faults, check all the other forums about the N95!

              WARNING TO ALL!

Fact! The Nokia N95 has a construction fault that causes the slider to rattle between the two parts when opened to reveal the keypad.

The problem appears on 3 out of every 100 handsets on purchase. However, a further 23 out of every 100 will develop the problem over time.

Nokia will never announce this problem publicly as the cost or replacing all returned phones will be too high for them.

However, i have to admit, for the luck ones who will not suffer from this construction fault - enjoy it, for it IS the greatest phone on the market, and will be for a long time coming.

I must confess.... N95 is the most "complete phone" in the market. I am a N80 owner and I was waiting for a replacement and hoping that N95 would be the one!

I wont mention all the "plus" N95 has, (it is one of a kind... indeed!) but I 'll stay at the 2 MAIN disadvantages that makes me awaiting for the ...N96 or the ...N81 ???

Disadvantage No1) Low RAM! Only 64MB for this masterpiece is just rediculus! 20MB free memory after a reboot? So all these super extra feautures are wasted, cause you cant even have 2-3 applications running at the same time? Try to listen your favorite music in the background while ...web surfing and you will face the B.S.O.D. of the Nseries! (LOW MEMORY warning!)

Disadvantage No2) The screen resolution! Its size is superb (2.6") but at a 320x240 resolution?!! My N80 has 452x316 pixels resolution! So this means that if I want to upgrade to N95,I have to ...downgrade to that resolution??!! It is a multimedia phone for gods shake! Web surfing requires at least N80 screen resolution (not to mention 640x480!)

Of course a lot of people will not even bother about these drawbacks, and will buy this awesome phone but for me and a few others ...(I think) will wait for the N96? or the N81?

Can you please tell me what the "i" in a future N95i would mean/stand for? what capability does it suppose to indicate?
another thing - I think if you don't pay the monthly fee for the turn-by-turn GPS help it would only mean that the route WOULD be drown on the map, but you wouldn't hear voice direction. or am I wrong?

Fact is - The N95 has problems with the slider. Whether Nokia sorts it out or not, doesn't matter. No-one wants to purchase a new phone, only to send it in for repairs the very next day. The only debatable argument is: Despite this apparent flaw, how does the N95 compare with other products?

Like I said before...Time will show that I was right. (FYI, I did buy one -> it had the loose slider problem ->then I sent it back and got another -> that one had the problem too -> I lost my confidence in the product)

I have decided to wait for till nokia fixes the problem totally OR maybe they'll produce a N95i some day which will probably be a MUCH better phone in terms of construction and (of course) features and software as nokia will learn from their N95 mistakes and will make sure that the N95i will not follow the same trend.

I believe they bit off more than they could chew with the N95.

fyi george you say why would you want to get a phone fixed when its brandnew, it shouldnt have any problems, cause nobodys perfect and brandnew electronics or brandnew merchandise on anything can be defective or something happened that the manufacturer didnt plan on happening worlds not perfect so thats why they have the warranty......they try to make perfect but things happen

ok george, then dont buy the n95 and go buy something you do like and want to talk about on another phone, as your not right. but if you want to be told that, than sure your right.

"also george if anyone does have issues that need to be fixed that aren't fixable from the support site at nseries.com than its called its covered and fixed under warranty"

Why would someone have to fix a brand new phone? If i buy a new n95 and i go home and open the box and find a loose slider, i would want a totally new one the next day in a sealed box. I don't want to send in my new phone in for repairs after just 1 day. You will find more and more loose slider mentions as time goes by. Time will show that i am right.

well you update the firmware it resolves any issues you were having, also to george the slider issue is only on some here and there not all and no over time it wont start happening to the ones who dont have the issue as i have one since it came out and no problems with anything.....
