I just ordered my cell which will come next week and I was told that you still need to trickle charge the battery for 16hrs is this correct if yes why have nokia not improved there battery's.

this phone audio sucks,its too low .Apart from that its a great phone and i totally understand nokias marketing concept,they just cant make the "PERFECT" phone or their other high end phones will just not sell.its pretty obvious

Updating what happened to me:
I did a MASTER RESET (COMPLETE FACTORY RESET) as i was lucky looking on the internet in the Nokia N95 forums and found the code which is:
*#7370# and then it returns it as the first day you bought it, not like the reset which is present in the phone which was the superficial reset, then used another micro sd card that i had, 512mb instead of the 1Gb that came with the phone (nokia micro sd) and it can work songs to the music library now and it was all the fault of that crappy nokia 1gb supplied micro sd card !!! can you believe that! and i was just about to return it to O2 !!!

I am still in the understanding that using the maps (if downloaded to PC and installed on N95)are free. As an OPTIONAL service you can use voice navigation. Depending on the service you have this might cost a bit. In other words, using the GPS with downloaded maps shouldn't cost anything if you not need the voice navigation?!

Dear All
This is my honest review regarding Nokia N95:
I got the phone 3 days ago Brand new and sealed via an O2 upgrade, and it has the latest firmware version on it, so let me tell you the good things:
1/fantastic screen size and colour
2/awesome stereo sound from the speakers
3/calling sound quality is great
4/very nice slide mechanism
5/great improvements in the software regarding speed and new functions
6/great camera quality and great video quality
7/nice maps
BAD THINGS :
1/battery very bad , after a first time 12 hour full charge, it only lasted about 7 hours (9:00am till 4:00pm), but i did use it for a 25 min call, used bluetooth for 30 minutes for file transfers, took some photos and heard a couple of songs, so now i am charging it again i.e. it didn't last half a day
2/i installed the cd software that came with it, then added songs to the memory card (PS: it comes with a Nokia 1GB micro sd) and added around 50 songs and 6 music videos, when trying to update the music library it crashed, so i restarted the phone, but still won't update the music library and now when i slide the phone, the Media Catalogue WILL NOT SHOW !!! i tried restarting the phone, still didn't work, so i did a master reset for it and still the problem has not been fixed, so i emailed nokia today and told them about the problem and called the nearest nokia repair center from where i live and the repair guy said that i must have corrupted the software and i have to take it down to him to fix it !!! Can u believe that !!! the phone just crashed just because i wanted to update the music library files!! and i have only head the phone for less than 72 hours!!
So now I don't no if i should return it to O2 and get a replacement of exchange it for another phone or just take it down to the nokia center and have it fixed !! i love it's style and looks, but it is unstable and seems to me unreliable, as i had the Nokia N80 and this never happened to me and the N95 that i got was new and sealed not a clearance deal.

iv just got the n95 on o2 and am concerned about data charges using the sat nav iv allso being told conflicting things about it so if any one knows exactly what the charges are can you email me and let me know as the sales consultant in the shop told mie it would be free as its gps not gprs but every ttime i put it on it connects to o2 the rep malso told me i would recieve a voucher for the maps ??? this is very confusing

Carlos i too work in a phone shop and i have had 2 customers who have been able to upgrade free so it just looks like its orange who arent upgrading free! As for the speakers and sound quality its by far the nest on the market much better then the w850i and the w880i, Also the camera is alot better than the k800i although not in the dark with that flash.

Ok, for one, I work in a phone shop, in fact i'm in it now.
And i'd like to point out that the sony ericsson w850i has the highest volume stereo speaker out of any phone on the market, GSM arena even said so (or did u not read the review)
and number 2, im a band 5 customer with orange and the N95 will still cost me 20 quid to upgrade to, id love to know how u managed a free upgrade?
(for those of you out there who dont know, band 5 is the highest band orange give, and it involves spending over 1000 a year)
And the camera on the n95 is actually disappointing, i still prefer my k800i's cam over that one anyday.

bolaji, In regard to battery life, I think it used to be true about charging for 24 hours with nickel batteries, but not anymore with lithium batteries. Apparently you only need to charge till it says full. I was reading some battery life tips from c-net here:

Regarding the battery life, most users don't know you need to charge a battery for the first time at least 24 hours, because the first charging will determine the life span of the battery. N95 is one of the very best phone manufacture by Nokia.
