rich, 02 Dec 2008why did I make the biggest mistake and get this phone??!!!?... moreDude take your nokia n96 to a nokia care centre tell them what is happening and Im sure they will fix it.
I took my nokia n96 to a nokia care centre and they fixed the proplem though I did'nt have that sourt of problem with mine, are you sure you aint running to many applications to find out if you are press the menue key for about a second and if the are applications running you should exit them by pressing the c key,
if it is a branded nokia n96 say from vodafone take it to a nokia care centre to take it off I got mine off and have no more trouble with it,
ps: the vodafone software caused all the trouble for me.
hope this helps regards josh

I bought one few days ago. All is well, but the battery is criminally bad - using an N96 as a plain phone is possible, but using any of the fancy possibilities it has drains the battery rapidly.

I bought an N96 NAM from Best Buy two days ago for $700 and I'm taking it back.

I absolutely love the damn thing, but I hate the keyboard. I'm a huge texter, and the keypad just sucks.

I think the N95 has the best alphanumeric keypad for texting, ever. The T-Mobile Wing has the best QWERTY that I've used, but there are a lot out there that I haven't.

              I'll wait for the N97, I guess.

I've had the N96 NAM 3G for 2 weeks now. I owned the N95 8GB previously. It is overall the same as the N95 8gb except for a a few small details that I really liked. The obvious memory upgrade of course, however the cool little kickstand to watch movies, and the more "ergonomic" design. My BIGGEST disapointment is that the N96, unlike the N95 8GB, does not let you take advantage of VOIP calling clients and using you "internet telephone" setting. Sure, you can install an App like FRING or Gizmo, but I really liked having the "internet telephone" feature I had on my N95 8GB that was purposely removed from the N96.

                                  WHHHHYYYYY????????

The other peeve I have is that it is a fingerprint MAGNET! just normal use will have your print smears on your phone, no matter how many time you wash or wipe your hands.

Now, if you can eventually overcome those 2 little peeves, this is a great phone!! If you can cough up the cash without complaining how expensive it is - I say, GET IT! even if you own the N95 8GB now.

                                  My .02
