So if you don't live in Vietnam, South Korea and Taiwan, there's no point in getting this phone just for DVB-H alone.

..and now they are expecting to loose market share. Even in low-end market they are having tough time.

When something Superior comes in the market people who are reviewing it, they will of course try and test that against the best in hand which was so far N95 8gb. And the end result is, Innov8 came out way better than N95, N95 8gb and N96.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I'm talking about Innov8 and n-series. not all samsung in general. The word that samsung is using "low-grade material" is completely wrong. They use better matterial than Nokia. Few exceptions are ofcourse the 8800 series. It takes time of a brand to be called 'durable'. Nokia didn't reach to that point overnight.

If you argue that innov8 is only Superior in its image department then one might say the only thing that N96 has is DVH-TV support which is not a very popular feature to begin with. But again it's your personal choice. For the vast majority DVH-TV support doesn't make huge difference.

hold your breath! nokia is set to announce, if i'm not mistaken, the first handset running on s60 touch user interface and equipped with "VGA" screen. mark your calendar, october 2nd is the date.

Agree with anonymous on the N85. will consider buying that too when launched. I bought N96 because of bigger screen, DVB-H support and it's looks and because it's a Nokia.

Can't agree on the Innov8, until Samsung pulls itself together on firmware and software supports. otherwise it will only be a regular 'high spec'phone, marginally better than C905 from SE o LG's 910.

I am a bit of a purist, for digital shot I have the Canon EOS1D Mk3, for portable music, I have the ipod touch 32GB. both of which is virtually unsurpassed in photography and music reproduction. And for mobile phones, I choose Nokia N and E series.

for me, the current best smartphones recently announced are the n85 for mid-to-high end category and samsung i8510 innov8 for high end category. a big NO to n96. basing on the several reviews i read, i think n96 loses to n85 and samsung innov8 in many accounts. here's a run down:
-n85 has better build quality than n96. n85's plastic surface is glossy but not prone to scratches & fingerprints.
-n85 has better screen technology that offers better viewing experince - color contrast, sharpness, brightness, viewing angle, legibility under sunlight. n96 has larger screen but has worse picture quality.
-n96 has dual processor but scores the least in performance and speed. n85 has only a single core processor, same processor as n78 but is engineered to perfection in terms of performance and speed.
-although same 5mp camera, n85 has better image quality than n96 and n85's camera has a focal length of 5.45, n96 has 5.2
-n85 has fm transmitter that can be used anytime, anywhere. n96 has dvb-h receiver that is not widespread and only few countries support.
-n85 has up to 30 hours of music playback. n96 has up to 12 hours of music playback.
-innov8 has better camera, better sound quality, better processor, and better build quality than n96.

I have had the Nokia N96 for a few days now, I must say I am very pleased with the device, despite having a thin battery, it would last me a day and a half of heavy usage(1 hour talk, 2 hour web surfing through 3.5G, 1 hour GPS use and 1 hour music /video and 1 hour N gage game). I have had almost all the top ends N series (N82, N95) and E series (E90, E66) phones and I must say I am impressed with N96. I wasn't expecting to be impressed with the late launch, but I was.

Yes I agree that the Innov8 has better hardware features, but you guys are missing the point. buying and owining the phone is not about having the best feature (unless your intention is to let others know that you own the 'best phone'), it is about experience and the utilities you can get out of the device. Samsung doesn't quite work for me, Ask any Samsung's S60 owner out there, and they will tell you that Samsung is not big on firmware upgrades and bug fixes (read Steve Litchfield review on the Samsung G810 in allaboutsymbian.com and you will get the idea), and we all know all devices have bugs when launched, to me Samsung's resistence in releasing firmware upgrades is akin to 'selling and forgetting'. And let's not forget N-gage, Ovi, PC Suite, Maps, Nokia Music store etc., all experience enriching services afforded only to Nokia S60 devices.

So stick to Innov8 if you want the 'best spec' cam and music phone, or maybe consider the Sony Ericsson C905 for that matter.

but if you want your device to do more than that on a S60 platform, there's only one place to go.

That to me alone is worth 500 euro more.

if i am to choose between 8MP or DVH-TV I will surely go for DVH-TV than 8MP because I already have a good 5MP Carl Ziess on my phone. c",

according to mobile-review.com and smape.com, samsung innov8 is the most feature-packed mobile phone to date. innov8 beats n96 hands down in camera, video, sound quality, ergonomics, and build quality. n95 has a 3d graphics accelerator but no dsp sound chip. n96 sacrificed the 3d accelerator for a dsp chip. but samsung innov8 has both a 3d graphics accelerator and a dsp sound chip. their dsp chip provides even much better sound quality than nokia's best, the n91. innov8 has better build than both n95 and n96. innov8 has not only added megapixel count but the image quality produced by innov8's camera is the best among all camera-equipped phones. don't get me wrong, i'm a nokia fan but i'm really impressed by samsung innov8. innov8 costs 700 euros, n96 costs 600 euros. i think a 100 euros added to the current price of n96 is so worth it to buy innov8. if i had the money now, i'd skip the n96 and buy the innov8.
