Ive been with nokia for years but its time to change,,everytime i upgrade its just the same thing with no excitement and bored within a few days..

I have got palm treo 500v to start to learn windows again after having the spv range in past and its a great device you have to copy and paste the bluetoothed song from main memory to memory card its a refreshing new challenge..Landscape screen is wat should be on these smartfones like 500v and battery is good got 14hrs mp3 playback after 2nd charge..
I am hoping that my next fone is xperia but its a long way off yet,,,for me if i got n96 (got n82 at moment) its just going to be same again and dvb-h is not in uk till 2012 wen analogue switches off and n82 will take 32gb so the n96 is nowt special for anything..i had a go with samsung u900 today and even that is refreshingly different so nokia has gone stale for me with nowt different on horizon so time to change i am afraid,,but have nothing against nokia ive been with them since 3650 and had many models but a change is needed..

If what the Secret does is what you're looking for at a phone, then you have every single reason to get your hands on it. I'll just wait to see what this can do. Until then...

What the hell Nokia was thinking - do they think we are total idiots? We can not read and understand specs!

Guys, anyone know how this DVB-H works? I mean, do I have to subscribe (pay) for the channels? Does anyone know what are the current list of DVB-H channels available in USA?

I heard that the N96 processor is the ARM 9 series and not the 11 series. Is that true? And that the processing speed is only 332MHz and a 128 MB RAM. Compared to its contenders SE X1 and the HTC Touch Pro, the N96 Ram is less and also the processing speed.

What do you say about this, guys?

As you'r seemingly not convinced by the Secret as a contender for the N96, it's likely you'll be waiting for other LG future releases, only to prove the N96 is their better of course (just kidding) :). Me, on the other hand, will be very content with the Secret if it delivered what it promised, backed by good performance and good battery life.

Until then, have fun. And don't forget to post your impressions after buying the N96, hopefully.

                        @Bipin:
I don't know if it's you, but as for me, i have also been thinking, which device i should get..
i also like Apple's Iphone, but i love N96 as well..
i was thinking, N96 isn't that much different compare to my N95 8gb, but then i'm too used to Nokia and i just can't change to another product other than Nokia..

So i have come to a conclusion..
why not save up a lot, and get all of the ones u want? well not all, but the most ones u want? maybe in ur case Xperia and N96?
doesn't matter if u purchase it like 6 months after it's released, as long as u can what u wanted, u'll be satisfied i presume? =)

The N96 now will not be available while October says the Carphone Warehouse webpage thats so all the mobile Operators will be printing all the boxes an putting there own stupid software on it spoiling this mobile but i got a email saying the N96 will be able to pre-order on the 31st July on Play.com so i will be ordering one of these instead of waiting while October, another thing that might occur before the release of the N96 the new batch of mobile for xmas will be announced by Nokia an thats why the reviewer on mobile-review.com the N96 might not be a bulk stock by Nokia as they are hoping the N82 will sell better but Nokias got it wrong i think as the N82 is to Plasticky an the screen gets shown up by my Black 8gb N95 thats why i returned the N82 i tried out for 3 days

I don't have hands-on experience with this handset, but from what I have seen and read so far I can say that this one will do more than "just a little bit of everything". A few examples: it boasts a dedicated DSP chip for audio/video processing so audio quality will be a strong point; the N95-8GB camera is still one of the best available, so N96 will do at least that performance (although I expect even better); new UI (Symbian FP2) optimized for processing power and less battery consumption (see the N78 video to see the new interface); Nokia Maps 2.0; DVB-H has a very good quality (where it is available); N-Gage portrait and landscape gaming (plus 3D)...

But why don't they? Marketing strategies? Maybe. A company as big as LG should look at every level of the customers. Obviously, this is a "very" high-end phone, so LG should gain access to this level too.

On the other hand, Nokia does have original features that LG doesn't and most likely never will have. N-Gage or Navi Wheel are just some examples, let alone the full OS (and UI) which is, in my opinion, one of the most capable, letting Windows Mobile aside.

Other than that, I guess we're going to have to wait for an LG "reply" to this phone, and after that we can make a real comparison.

The_Nootz, 04 Jun 2008Well, you have some arguments. I agree that if LG Secret wa... moreWell, I don't see any Nokia feature that's proprietary or exclusive know-how. All the techs around are already available for everyone. It's just a matter of how you utilize them. And I think LG has the guts to introduce an all-rounder if they wish. Unfortunately, marketing strategies are a hurdle stone.

As for performance, I can't really decide. Nokia's is fine, but I'm not acquainted with LG's. I think, however that the answer would be "yes", LG may be level with Nokia in terms of performance. And who knows, they may outperform them. Just wait for the Secret and beyond.

Aside from this, I really liked the anonymous post below: "This will be the same as most other high end Nokia's- does a little bit of everything but does nothing particulary well". A statement to contemplate about !
