This phone is useless by Nokia. poor battery. and in a millions years ders no way da battery can last even if nokia say the battery will last long due to software optimization on da the phone. Nokia lie even on there website on nseires.com they said n95 (classic) comes with 1000mah battery or summat. mine came wid 950mah battery.
the thing thats going to cripple nokia is da new sony ericsson phones --> P5i/G900/C702/G700/(Cybershot HD Phones in 2009).

Trying to be as unbiased as possible.
Even after having 4 faulty N95 8GB units and having tried SE960i, Samsung F700, LG Viewty and last but not least the O2 xda Orbit 2 I am still of the opinion that the N95 8GB is the best one of the bunch.
What the N96 will be like is anyone's guess. The styling of the N96 is rounder so will probably feel more comfortable to use. Time will tell.
Peace.

Ying, are you saying that N96 definitely has 3D acceleration? Does the N96 use the same processor as the N95 8GB?
Nootz, there is no infrared on the N96: check out http://forumnokia.mobi/devices

To AndyBurgin,
The Nokia N96 is more so a technical improvement over the Nokia N95. Furthermore, the Nokia N96 is a solid statement voiding the myth of more features, bigger battery. This device will open new paths of acceptable features in which size, efficiency, and longevity would all be satisfied. The biggest "fab" currently is video. The concept of the Nokia N96 is to expand the consumers imagination beyond simple still photography, thus the video accelerating hardware.

www.mobile-review.com have a Prototype N96 review on there site now an the phone doesn"t seem to be as good as i expected as i have the Black N95 an does not seem to show much improvement from Nokia, but with the price tag an size of it i will be definetly looking for a full review of the final version released as the 6220 might look ugly but the camera an xenon flash might be worth buying instead, as the 16gb of memory will really make this phone to expensive for some people

mobile-review already has its 1st review for n96 (in english)..it seems that this n96 incorporated new tech, thats why only use smaller battery compare to n95 8gb..it can stay n last as long as n95 8gb due to its hardware spec that not power hungry like n95 8gb...kudos to nokia for answering & prove to ppl who thinks n96 battery is sucks...that it isnt suck..good job..

Lets release one phone, then cause we know it will have software problems, release another one with a small diference, the lets release 3 more identical models!!
So glad the N70 was my last EVER nokia. Wake up and smell the roses.
Yes some of you will say biast SE user, but the difference is, I have used Nokia, and will never do so again, where as most nokia users have not used anything else because you fall for their tricks.

Hello (friendly)
I am need help to decidebetween this pone one and the PRADA screen one. Both phones are for touchscren fun but the clam/candy form appeals too.
YOU say there are issues on the battery. YOU say that the phone is like the N84 in use (like the N95 before the N80. YOU say that the camera has. BUT ISAY in the real world all you are really going to do is some text and calls to people so ISAY that the battery will be fine.
I really want this phone and what YOU say to be right for you.
Best friendly,
Matt

to everyone....
i guess its enough....
we've been arguing so much about the disadvantages of this fone eg. lack of qwerty, size, battery longevity and efficiency, resolution, absence of touchscreen,OS,design and lack of camera lens cover.
we've been asking why nokia did this and that.some provided useful information to answer this and that.still some are not contented, not satisfied and then another question pops out like it was never answered before.its unstoppable.the way people acts in this site is really unbelievable.
people....learn to read and analyze. dont just dwell in the provided information that you gathered in some other websites or here.look for authenticity and possibility.
remember what Steve Jobs said in one of his commencement address. "stay hungry, stay foolish" now people, grasp that using common sense. please
and people please stop saying that nokia will not do this or that.you're not the CEO.nokia, as well as other phone manufacturers is doing their best. "they" did what they had to do. they gave their best (even if its not the best for you) and will continously strive for progress and innovations.if you most likely wants to extend your thoughts to nokia then hunt and talk to them ^_^

To the readers of gsmarena.com,
Since the initial launch of the Nokia N96, many ignorant commentators disrespected the Nokia N96 due to the equipped 950 mAh battery.
Several posts, made by me, discussed the battery benefits of the optimized hardware and software the Nokia N96 possessed. Yet many failed to comprehend the technology and concept.
I found an article which gives a full review of the Nokia N96. Specific details are giving of the device including a comparison test of the N95 8GB's 1050 mAh battery vs the N96's 950 mAh battery.
The original page is in Russian. I used the Babel Fish Translator to roughly translate it into English.
"Storage battery
In the telephone adapts the lithiumionic storage battery Bl-5f with a capacity of 950 mAch. The battery of the same capacity was on the the original Nokia N95, but already in Nokia N95 8Gb it increased to 1050 mAch. Takeing into account similar screens, sensation appears, that also on Nokia N96 to the court would arrive the large battery.
Producer declares about the fact that Nokia N96 is capable to work in the regime of conversation to 3.6 it is hour, in the standby mode - to 220 it is hour. For Nokia N95 the operating time in the standby mode was described at level 240 it was hour. In the basic modes of operation (speech, serfing in the network and so on) you will not note special difference, apparatuses are compared. In the same Nokia N81 the use of other apparatus solutions in comparison with Nokia N95 made it possible to attain the larger operating time in the basic regimes, the declared time in the mode of standby - order 420 it was hour, it is ideal, but apparatus works somewhat more, let and not the times. The time of complete battery charging - only more than 2 it is hour.
In Nokia N96 is instrument room DSP, which corresponds for the sound, and also video. As result, it is necessary to search for improvement in this region. Give let us glance at the basic regimes and that, how much worked in them telephone in comparison with the the usual Nokia N95 8Gb.
Let us give the maximum operating time in different regimes:
GPS- navigation - 3 hours.
Survey of video - 4.5 hours (declared by 5 it is hour, in Nokia N95 8Gb - 3.5 hours).
WEB-serfing (EDGE- connection) - 3 hours (also 3 hours).
Wi- fie (the continuous duty of data) - 3.5 hours (N95 8Gb - 3 hours).
Hearing music in the head sets - 13.5 it is hour (declared by 14 it is hour, for Nokia N95 8Gb - 10 it is hour).
The survey OF TV (only for N96) - to 5 is hour.
By the unarmed view it is evident that the apparatus decoding of video gives significant increase in the operating time, on top of that, also, with the smaller storage battery. The same concerns sound. In all remaining regimes the telephone works exactly just as Nokia N95 8Gb with the correction for smaller storage battery.
Under the conditions of Moscow networks the apparatus worked on the average on the order of 2 days with the intensive use (checking mail one time after is somewhat it was hour, to 5 hour hearing music, to 20 SMS- communications). It is possible with confidence to speak that the apparatus will work to 2 days with the most merciless regime of operation (exception - constant web-brauzing), in the case only of bells will be maintained 3-4 days, depending on their quantity."
To summarize, the 950 mAh rated battery of the Nokia N96 is equal, in some cases even better, than the 1050 mAh rated battery of the N95 8GB.
