You would have thought Nokia having insisted that you use a stilus, would build it in [ as Palm and many others do ]Mine is lost in the first week. And after 30 years experence of making phones cant they work a better way to take off the back and get the battery out, for the latter you need long finger nails.

I asked about the touch qwerty because im so afraid if the paint on the mechanical keyboard may remove over time(i do believe its paint not plastic)

Anyways, the hole is microphone or not, im sure its not a spy cam, lol.

Played with a friend's N97 over the week-end and have to say that it is a great phone. The responsivness is very smooth. Keyboard is nice too. I have E71 now and this phone feels quite different. I felt that the keys are too big after getting used to type on a smaller keyboard. Still only two-thumb typing can be executed. I will be replacing my phone this chrismas and hoping that the price on it will drop to under 500$. I don't like the contracts but don't like paying more then 450$ for my phone either. I guess I'll add this to my list of phones to consider. I do a lot of e-mails on my phone, so need a proper keyboard and I want touch screen as well. Don't like winmo phones. S60/Apple/BB/Linux is fine. What other devices in this price range should I consider? Is Samsung Omnia HD is any good/reliable? Upcoming Motorola Android phones with keyboards look promissing too...

Owned my N97 for almost a week. Well, I could say that first batch of the brand new model, dun expect much out of it. Usually, the software are not firm up yet. I recognise this cos everytime the first batch of new models phone always faces problem till the later stage they decided to make improvement out of it and there goes the software updates.

My N97 faces quite a bit of problem here, like when lights backout during the standby mode, it stated in the manual that just tap on the screen and the lights would be up again, mine doesn't (Without keylock)During standby mose, you tap onto the shortcut on main screen to get into the message page, the page just break up leaveing only the message header and footer. The centre portion is still your wallpaper... Well, guess I just have to wait for the next device updates to be up on the official website.

Someone said it's a microphone as you had thought.
They said leaving the qwerty open will give you better audio quality while video recording.

I understand only the chinese n97 has the touch screen qwerty.
