The n97 has nothing against the Sony Ericsson s500i. The s500i got the lamps on the side, that changes colour! It got the best 2 pix camera ever made and to top that; it's nearly waterproof. It is also recomended by the US government and the Finnish president. The n97 has nothing on the best engineering ever made in the Sony Ericsson s500i.

the cpu is not a huge problem; the real problem is the camera which it s @ the 4 th n9x the lenses were modified, but still that ccd with blueish color in dark places; and still no opticall zoom. so like 8g, 96, 97 is an another facelift of the old n95
it s like installing xp on an p2; (they ve installed v04, they added ram and job done);
the result? loads of money that we have to pay
why they don t let us 2 install it on the n95 ?
too scared that noboy will buy n97?

I asked my cousin (who works as programming co-ordinator in Nokia Finnland & gives me inside infos) what the hell u lot are doing? And he told me had he been in da hardware section he could've make Nokia blaze although he's a software engineer! Lol!
But good news is that some fabulous new softs are being developed right now for S60 5th edition. Mind u...even being a nokia worker he asked me not to get N97...he recomamded Omnia HD!!!! Coz it's uses S60 5th edition as well and a lot cooler hardware. Now I don't know what I'll do coz I realy liked da design of N97. But, Omnia HD is cool too...in a great dilemma now...

FM transmitter? So you can stream audio (mp3s or calls) from the phone to a car radio directly? IMO sweet. First time I've seen that.

and yes you can make scratch resistant plastics like glass
the US army already usess that type of plastic cause glass can't obsorrb the shock impact or explosions and rough terrain

I just got my hands on a retail version of N97 for some hours through my cousin workin on Nokia finnland & found out these...
1. This time the 5MP shooter has gotten back to the King N95's imagin quality. It's supirior. But image processing is still a bit slow.
2. Video recording is better than most other previous ones.
3. Disappointed with the phone speed...though its blazing fast through most manue while no app is running in background...but I almost slept waiting while I left the music player and browser turned on and tried to get to the photo gallery...it took at least 10-12 secs to open up. Being such a high ended phone I expected to run at least 4 apps at a time with a reasonable speed but N97 failed me.
4. Mp4, AVI(Non Divx) ran fine with the out of box video player but failed to run most of the Wmv,AVC files with various resolution my cousin loaded it with. Divx, xvid is out of question.
5. The touch sensitivity is little to no diffrnt from 5800's which I didnt like at all earlier.
6. The QWERTY is great to type fast...very few mistypes.
7. The loud speakers are cool...I think they are a bit louder than 5800's but renders a little bit more noise...not a big deal though.
8. Accelerometer is bit slow.
