just upgraded my Atom last Tuesday, and was happy to see more improvement on the phone. the phone has faster responses now. camera responds better than before, although the quality still sucks, but I hope O2 is still developing future ROM upgrades for utilizing the 2MP camera and the other features of the phone.

I had no problem with mine. It worked fine. The only problem I had is that when I did the software upgrade to 20060123 it failed on stage 5 & I had to return it so that the software could be re-flashed. Still waiting!
BTW, how to turn on the light so that it can be used as a torch light. The only way i found is by going to the test menu.

I got no problem setting ringtones from other formats like mp3, midi & wma. 1st, to solve the cracking ringtone problem, use wma tracks (meaning save more memory space) as ringtone. It works & I got this info from someone from earlier posting posted. RIngtones can be selected from the songs (best wma) you saved by going settings, sounds & notifications, notifications, event (select incoming call)& lastly at ringtone select the wma file you wish to use. If I'm not wrong, songs u saved will only be detected if you save at the folders (no sub folder cos that won't work). For less complicated one, choose Ringo, just pay US$14.95. I got it and it cost me SGD25. But additional feature like sms tone can be set as well.

The O2 XDA Atom is cool!! After upgraded the Rom all the performance & Features was more better than before. Cool I love it. Hope O2 can more improve their Rom or service.

Using Atom for last one month. A little bit disappointment using it, the set was not up to mark. After two ROM upgrades some better performance is noticed. Hope O2 will keep on providing improved ROM upgrades.

I join all those calling upon O2 to make Atom a STABLE mobile phone first before trying to go on to fix the seemingly more complicated and less important issues (like a worthless 2 MP camera...) have had the Atom for more than a month and after 2 replacements still the same issues - the phone often does not wake-up from its sleep mode despite repeated presses of the button and most impt. incoming calls , ring tone often breaks up and is too feeble to hear... not sure these are hardware or software issuesbut O2 MUST FIX IT OR RECALL ALL THE PHONES out there...

The XDA atom is now improved a lot in all aspects, those previous issues that it used to have cannot be experienced anymore after the latest upgraded from O2 (www.seeo2.com), try and upgrade ur ROM if u haven’t yet done so…
U can set mp3 ringtones if u just right click the file that u wish to set as ur ringtone then u will see an opinion says ’set as ring tone’, after that the fie will be copied onto ur deviceand its done…..

hi all... i juz got my ATOM for one week.. n i find a lot of problems . 1st. only WAV file can set to ringtones, 2nd. LOUSY LOUSY speaker, 3rd. performance too slow, slower than my previous o2 mini.. and last sometimes when my phone is ringing, the ringtones comes out like pause n play , pause n play ( LAGGING )..please , anyone can help me out? where can i upgrade my RAM ? location : singapore

i m considering to buy this atom, By seeing its configration i m really impressed but by viewing the other views who r using it i got struck on its perfomance,My main aim to buy this device for to use skype, pls recomnd if any one using it, pls help, or those who have this device pls download skype on it and tell me its perfomance.

upgraded the rom. it works like the same leh. btw, my atom is pretty ok even b4 the upgrading. perhaps, the programs running behind really have to be "stop all" to prevent the slowiness.
to snoopy:
hard disk. I think it's very minimal. if i'm not wrong the storage card (not memory card) is the hard disk.
to taiki:
battery made. mine is in Taiwan. perhaps different regions will have different made? why not before purchase, ask for a view at the battery?
anyway i got my atom for a near 3 weeks. very satisfied w/ it's performance. can play games, watch movies, animes, msn, etc... Oh, video recording can be set unlimited timing. ringtones, supported by wma... meaning, it plays wma songs as well. So need no trouble to convert tracks to mp3 if using wmp to convert tracks. sms tone can be set as well by some software...
transferring of datas / games is done quickly by miniSD card. Synchronisation through usb cable is slow still. can be solved using memory card.
I dunno how about the others pda phones, I'm a novice but I like atom. The only setback is the camera. Fortunately enough, I dun get to use it often, so that's not a problem.

Its not the phone that's bad. Its the software. The phone, as far as I am concerned, is great. Just do some research and you will find that there are some programs that are running in the background that do not need to be running, which in fact slow down the speed of this phone.

I think I just happen to be the unlucky one that bought the ATOM which didn't even work and upgrading is still not available here. Changed to Dopod 818 Pro. Tried for more than a week. Prolems FREE. Personally, I still believe Dopod still better in terms of quality and functionality. My Dopod still running smoothly even with 7/8 applications open. Where else for Atom, I always faced system slow problem and had to close all the applications to free-up the RAM or did a soft reset. By simply comparing the yellow/blue/orange LEDs on the two phones, you will agree with me that Dopod is a better phone. Dopod LED looks so bright and unique. Atom LED looks so cheap and dull. I charge my Dopod every alternate day. I had to charge my Atom every day. Save all the frequent charging low battery trouble.

Bought this gadget 2 days back. Wanted to get the Dopod 818 pda phone but not ablew to find the black version that i like...so got this instead! Upgraded it on the spot at the shop. As of today, i'm impressed with it! superb! However, how do i use the wifi to surf the net instead of using the GPRS network service coz each tome i tab on the IE, connection is with GPRS! Please help!

Before we complain about the PDA/phones we should consider what we are asking of these devices. Just think, only a mere 10 years ago, what abilities did mobile phones have then?
I have just purchased the Atom and I think it’s great! I installed the latest updates and I cannot fault it. Loads of features and user control over the device. The diagnostic feature is very sophisticated, I just hope I never have to use it. Even though it does take a little while initiating some applications that is a very small con against all the pros. The camera is not amazing but very adequate, a huge improvement on the VGA cameras. Perhaps we have been spoiled by the great advances in digital cameras and not one of them makes a good PDA or can even make a call yet no one seems to mind about that.
The connectivity of the Atom is excellent, I have had no trouble with the Bluetooth as I have paired the Atom with my laptop and Tom Tom with ease. Wi-Fi is a brilliant feature and works very well at internet hotspots. Unlike older phones you can still make and receive calls while surfing the internet. I also really like the screen, nice deep colours with crisp detail.
I believe that anyone looking for a truly pocket sized PDA/phone with all the bells and whistles should seriously consider the Atom.

Hey U guys plz dont give bad opinoins abt Atom.. I hav upgraded the rom and its working nice..no problem at all...Its a Nice PDA and most advanced pda in da world..so Go for it..I m enjoying mine..and just download a software like wisbar advance and enjoy its really looks like a pc in our hand..wid all destop functions etc...just like windows vista in desktop pc...

waited for atom since it first been announced.. when atom was finally launched in Malaysia, went to check it out n wut??!! what i can say is-->> Atom is such a huge dissapointment..so,changed my mind n grab a dopod 818 pro instead..n i'm so glad i ever made that decision.pheww!!!
