OnePlus 6T

I'm surprised at all the rancor in the opinions. For the U.S. market, this seems like a beautifully practical phone. I guess I understand some of the frustration about the headphone jack, given OnePlus' stance in the past, but get over it. They provide an adapter, and frankly, unless the phone has an FM receiver (which I do like) wireless is the way to go anyway.
Some of the other phones mentioned (like the Pocophone) are functionally useless as phones in the U.S because of poor carrier bandwidth support. I'm not a fan of notches, but this little teardrop is almost nothing. (Compare this to the $1000 Pixel 3xl's huge notch.)
Higher screen resolution (kinda ridiculous on a tiny screen like a phone) is a significant battery hit, meaning a bigger battery or faster drain. My 42" TV is still only FHD, which is getting dated, but this still looks pretty amazing when shrunk to 6".
I must admit I'm disappointed about the removal of the notification LED. With the flared-out teardrop shape, I think they could have squeezed it in. IMO, a phone greatly benefits from either a notification LED or always-on display. Having to keep firing up a phone to check for notifications wastes time and battery.
Another thing a lot of critics are ignoring is OS update and security patches support. OnePlus seems to "get it" in this area. As an IT security specialist, I can assure you that this is a critical factor in your phone decision. Most of the flagship phones (with the exception of Google and Apple) have horrible support in this area. Buy a $1,000 phone and it will be out-of-date and a security risk in as little as a year. Might as well flush that money down the toilet.
Other objections I've read:
o Battery capacity: Well, it's significantly more than the 6, and I like that they chose Li-Po vs. Li-Ion, which should be safer and more airline-friendly.
o IP-xx rating / water resistance: I'd like to see a true IP-68 capability, but if the certification is too costly, I care more about the capability than the certification.
o SD-card: Really? 256GB isn't enough? The $1,000 Pixel (on my short list of phones, largely because of its top-notch photo capabilities and OS support) only supports 128GB and no expansion.
o Price: I think keeping the same price structure as the 6 was a wise choice. Some features gained / some features lost. I think OnePlus is well-situated to put even higher-end features in their phones to make true flagship-killers at 1/2 - 2/3 the price.
I do have security concerns about a Chinese-manufactured phone, not because I think the company is evil, but in some countries, manufacturers may not have a choice if the powers-that-be want to insert themselves into what is arguably the greatest potential spying device ever invented. (Many see Kaspersky antivirus as a prime example of this, and we have credible reports of other models - mostly those sold only in China - being compromised out of the box.)
Finally, if you have a 6, I can't see a compelling reason to upgrade. The 6 is fine and is in no way made obsolete by the 6T. But for those of us with an older phone and limited phone budget, this looks like a very good value.

I don't know when OnePlus really learn the purpose of secondary camera. Atleast this time they have to use wide angle or telephoto or even monochrome.
Why OnePlus just setteled for No meaning Depth Sensor. Pixel can create 'Bokeh Effect' with single cam.
So OnePlus be aware next time.

isuru Nisal, 31 Oct 2018No Headphone jack that stupid fingerprint scanner No LE... moreYeah I agree. That's why I'm not upgrading my HTC 10. It's still fast and has the LED notification & 3.5 jack. I can't fathom why most phone companies are emitting these features which should be a mandatory requirement for mobiles. FM radio and removable backs should return as well, they were fantastic features and it's a massive shame that they've been eliminated in recent years..
