Very correct. Agree with you. i have been using this phone since June 2021. I was a samsung user previous 5 years. i would say the OnePlus 8 pro has been a good one so far. does all the work well, speed is too good especially becoz of the Snapdragon. Samsung used to be slow with their useless processors. I m happy so far with the 12GB ram/256GB model. I got it under $600 back then and i currently am wondering even if i decide to change to another phone, which one would be similar to this(5G/ip68/fast charging/12GB Ram/etc). am satisfed with this one till it dies and gives up is when i might change. a good one from Oneplus

This manufacturer has quality control problems, the chances of you getting a unit with a faulty display is a lot higher than other manufacturers.
Also the software is just complete garbage when it comes to pleasing the eye. OxygenOS 12 (the current version of OxygenOS on the OnePlus 8 Pro) was obviously manufactured by aliens, (or apes), because no human would think it is good enough to even put out in open-beta, let alone publicly release it
I've had this phone for a week now and here are my pros and cons:
+ Gorgeous and bright display
+ Snappy and no UI lag, I would say 90% as snappy as an iPhone (yes even on ApeOS 12)
+ Decent camera in 48MP mode
+ Really fast charging speeds
+ Decent Thermal Performance (Snapdragon 865 is a good SoC)
+ Can be rooted easily
+ Can be downgraded to OxygenOS 11 easily
- Account Sync drains WAY TOO MUCH battery on OxygenOS
- Mediocre battery life without Account Sync also
- Green tint (faulty display) at 60hz. Had to force the phone to always use 120hz through ADB
(Faulty displays seem to happen a fair bit with OnePlus so buy it from a place where you have warranty or can return it)
- OLED Black smearing is noticeable
- Oneplus software support is basically non-existent, 1 update per 4 world wars
My advice is: Don't buy this phone, get the 8T instead.

@Lido
During the first three months of usage, the OnePlus 8 Pro set at 60 Hz, dark theme, auto sync off, Google services disabled, gave me 11.5 hours of continuous non-stop 4G browsing (browsing excluded video sites [e.g. YouTube] and social media).
Ten months later, my OnePlus 8 Pro only gives me 5.75 hours of continuous non-stop 5G browsing.
I need to replace the battery, because 5.75 hours is a real pain.

60 Hz, dark theme, auto sync off, gives me full day battery with heavy usage. 120 Hz eats a lot of battery.

I've got the version with 12G of RAM. Had it for about 2 years now. Few complaints until about a few months ago when a major Android update was released. Pretty crappy experience since then.
It thinks my head is a finger and starts accepting input in the middle of a phone call. 'Do not disturb' is no longer silent and also seems to flash the screen really quickly now and then. The first time it happened in the middle of the night, I thought I was having some kind of an episode, as I kept seeing tiny flashes from the corner of my eye from time to time. If it's on speakerphone and the screen goes black, it won't turn it back on if I touch the screen so if I need to take a look at something in the middle of a call, I have to hang up. Although, now I think about it, maybe I should jut put it against my ear. It would probably wake up instantly and start opening random apps. Slack and Teams crap themselves from time to time now. Don't recall that happening before the update. The list goes on.
There are workarounds for most of the issues, but they don't exactly add to the experience and the fact that I haven't seen any improvement months after the update is pretty disappointing.
I'm not a complicated user. Just need my phone for calls, messaging, browsing and camera. No games, no apps other than work-related, don't listen music on it etc. In my view, the best phone is the one I don't have to think about. This not it anymore.
