In my experience after major Android updates like Android 11 to 12, if you perform a hard factory reset it resolves many problems. However it will wipe your phone clean. It will be factory fresh but now with Android 12.

After stalling for a long time, I upgraded to RealMe UI 3.0 last weekend. The immediately noticeable issues are:
    1. Camera quality has degraded a lot
    2. Battery life has gone down
    3. Phone heats a lot randomly
    4. Wi-Fi connectivity is poorer, with smaller range now
    5. Random lags despite 12 GB ram

I've downloaded the rollback package and will be downgrading over the weekend. I worry about the data loss though.

After 10 months of use, feel like no useful features in this Realme UI 3.0. I know that near stock experience doesn't have usable features. But still feel my earlier Samasung A50 is best mobile with One UI and it's nice useful features in every aspect. Bixby routines is a boon for the mobile.

Got latest security update. Installed it and it seems nice. Why I said good is that earlier my BSNL sim network reception was worst. Now it is good, at least am getting 3G speed consistently.

swapnilshahind, 03 May 2022Hello. I have updated the phone to Android 12 with Build Nu... moreI have a general feeling that with every Android version upgrade, manufacturers are following the path of planned obsolesce. This holds true for every smartphone manufacturer as of today. Every new Android version runs slower than the last version. This trend is now very pronounced from 2020 onwards.

Thanks to you guys and your insightful comments as well as others, I am determined to stick to Android 11. My current installed software version on Realme X7 Max:

            Realme UI Version: V2.0
            Android Version: 11
Android Security Patch: 5th Jan, 2022
            Build Number: RMX3031_11_A.22

I have to admit this phone surprised me on Android 11 with its jaw dropping performance with flagship Mediatek Dimensity 1200 SoC, 12GB LPDDR4X RAM & 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Its UI fluidity, smoothness and zero jitteriness on the beautiful Samsung AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate is something I love about this phone.

swapnilshahind, 03 May 2022Hello. I have updated the phone to Android 12 with Build Nu... moreYes. Exactly. the 3.0 update is worst. It degraded the whole smartphone. Realme does it knowingly to promote and sell the GT version.

Can we roll-back this update to 2.0??

Hello. I have updated the phone to Android 12 with Build Number- RMX3031_11_C.07 about a week back. I can vouch with the members who have mnetiond that this update is horrible.
                1) The camera quality has degraded noticeably.
                2) The loudspeaker volume has decreased.
                3) 25-30% low battery performance. I have to keep the phone on battery saving mode for the whole day.
                4) Presence of bugs and glitches.
                5) Increased temperature of the phone without any activity.

Hope realme shows a inclination to customer satisfaction and releases future updates to solve the issues.

I always stay patient for installing software updates. Was excited for Android 12 and have got my hands burned.

I have seen YouTube of @SaiTechGuru where he had compared two X7 Max, one running Android 11 (8GB RAM) & the other on Android 12 (12GB RAM). It seems as of now the A11 is better optimized than A12 and hence higher AnTuTu scores when even with 4GB less RAM. Another thing is WiFi performance have deteriorated a lot after update.

Android version upgrades seems not that rosy after all, as new Android versions requires new drivers from chipset manufacturers to make it compatible with latest Android versions. And often the new drivers (a bridge between the hardware and the OS) released by chipset manufacturers in maintenance phases are NOT as good as the initial one. The initially released stable driver is ALWAYS super optimized to drive max performance from the chipset. It's performance has direct impact on the sale of the chipset fresh during release.

Saying all this, Realme may well mend all the issues with future updates. Hope for the best!!!

No issues found and good and reliable update. I was also part of beta tester, the first beta release was worst. But this stable build is good in all aspects.

I never regretted having this phone for INR 22.8K ($300, €266) as you are having Mediatek Dimensity 1200 SoC, 12GB LPDDR4X RAM & 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Samsung Ameloed @120Hz is great for its price and the phone comes with a 3.5mm audio jack. A pocketable & handy phone with great call quality, support for 7 5G bands, loud stereo speakers and a respectable battery life.

However I do regret how Realme is handling the software part. Realme India understood the mistake of launching this phone in India as upon launch it instantly became a cross cutting concern for the entire Realme lineup. Simply put for $300 bucks in India there is no other Realme phone better than this and this means it swallowed up all other models under $300. Definitely not good for market strategy, hence ludicrously huge INR 7K discounts on price during some specific sales to clear the stock.

Hope they resolve the major software issues with Android 12 with an update patch.

All Google apps get a reddish pinkish hue from a botched implementation of Android 12 themeing.

Don't update, I'm really regretting buying and updating this phone.
