Sony xperia is one of the most premium smartphone in this price and features segments....
So Z2 is better than Htc m8 over ram,body,battery life,camera,recording4k,& avyo maximum level of waterproofing.....

Z2's audio output isn't as good as HTC's, but battery lasts longer. HTC has a almost unusable camera, huge bezels and it's also a bit heavier. HTC has almost perfect audio output and has the better build quality. HTC doesn't have wireless charging possibility, since it's materials make it impossible.
If you need a good camera and a great battery life - choose the Z2.
If you love to listen to music with your expensive HiFi headphones, choose the M8. I personally chose HTC this time, but I almost bought a LG G2... It was a hard decision, but I've been more than happy.

I've been using my M8 for about a week now. Great device. Only complaint is the camera, which takes bad photos... My S4 took better photos.

one of the better versus reviews so far by gsmarena... these 2 phones are the top premium looking phones backed up by premium specs with the price you're paying for... great job by Sony (Z2 with great battery life, water and dust proofing, 4k video, 3gb ram etc.) on this one and great respect for HTC esp with build and audio standards. now these 2 are the real "premium" smartphones of 2014..

[deleted post]Yeah, the M8 is the better built one. Z2 has smaller bezels and a bit bigger screen and is about the same size as the M8. I personally chose HTC for better audio output and non-glass body.

If you have read the link I posted, you would understand.
I wouldnt say m8's 4up is enough as if you read the article it needs serious resolution.
What I'm trying to say is that the m8 DOES have a decent camera, but not perfect.
You are not goind to judge you phone based on the camera ALONE. check on the other criterias (Performance, design, screen etc)
I still think they're both great phones, being objective. I would choose m8 just for my own preference. and still would give credit to Sony for making a great phone

i like it over any other phone.

Also the glass may broke while the device is resting in your pocket. I'm not saying that the Z2 was a bad device, but it has typical Sony problems. Of course, not all of them have these.

I have used the M7 and it is very solid. its been dropped a lot and has taken a lot of abuse. Still works as good as new and i think i will replace it with an M8. I also feel sony is not as well built as the HTC or Iphone. but its much better than the samsung. The M8 feels way more Premium to look and feel. M8 is the phone for me

it seems lot of online review sites do not want to declare z2 as a winner despite outperforming m8.
I don't know on what basis is z2 screen poorer than m8? go to any shop and compare the two. m8's colours are washed out and the screen is less crisper than z2.
as for audio quality of m8 speakers, I mean who cares? how many are going to use the front speakers in day to day basis?
and please let us not fool anyone on who has better build quality. z2 clearly are ahead with their premium glass finish and ip certificate.

For me the good thing about the m8 and m7 is that it can handle headphones with large impendance.

and why enlarge the pic sample?? tsk. c'mon now.
I know Z2's camera is better, but not by a long margin and not as much as you folks describe.
4k video? ha! less than 20% of us has 4k resolution TVs to take advantage, let alone the overheating, storage issues it brings.
For me is a TIE, and MUCH better then Sammy's S5.
