Nokia Lumia 930 review: Iconic once again

28 July 2014
It may be a new house, new rules – but no sharp movements just yet. In the aftermath of Microsoft's recent acquisition of Nokia's devices and services department, it's really anyone's guess what will happen with the Finnish company that was once...

Nokia will never do Android. Great phone! Not gimmicky like Android OEMs. I'm fine with the battery life. I always have my battery pack with me always. Can't wait to ditch my iP5.

Other than still photo and screen, not a good phone....
That battery life is a monstrosity...
And...well, I understand every platform has it's fans but...WP is just not a good platform, they have a lot of work ahead...
what good is performance if UI look is scaled down to tiles, boxes, plain text and couple of colors, reminds me of Windows 95 OS...
We are in 2014, give that UI some life for goodness grace...

"Windows Phone 8.1 still doesn't offer a full-featured and system-wide file manager. Various apps such as Gallery, OneDrive, Music, and Office pack such functions, but they work only within their dedicated apps. There are some apps (with limitations) that give you the functionality of a full-blown file manager, but you need to read how they work first and then decide whether they are worth your money or not."

This is incorrect. There are many full-featured and system-wide file manager apps for WP8.1 which are by the way free. One of them is Microsoft's own Files app.

Since this spring, given that all other major flagships (S5, Z2, G3) are offering it. Yes, it's a disadvantage that a flagship that is even newer doesn't have it. Of course, one can choose between 4k video or better still pictures (that's where the 930 wins).

46 hours means exactly one day with my usage, not 2.

What actually bothers me the nots is the absence of smart dialing. Believe it or not, this is first and foremost a phone, and it's primary purpose is making calls, so it's a deal breaker for me unfortunately.

I understand the battery life is kind of a disappointment but when does no 4K video recording became a disadvantage. No, I ask seriously @GSMArena! When does this factor becomes a disadvantage.....

Too bad the battery sucks!! Thats the deal-breaker for me. But apart from that it's a awesome phone.

The phone does have double-tap to wake, where the review says it doesn't. If you turn off the rubbish that runs in the background you can get a lot longer out a battery compared to the other smartphones out there.

From time to time Nokia still manages to produce iconic phones that are well accepted between the audience. I think this Lumia is one of those. Good job Nokia/Microsoft!
