Huawei Ascend Mate7 review: Stargazer

17 October 2014
The Huawei Ascend Mate7 is the company's first phablet ready for primetime, with two credible midrangers in the Mate series giving Huawei the confidence to stand up to rival flagships. Never mind the digit in the title, the Mate7 is actually a 6" device...

LOL. "The dynamic range could have been better"....

The dynamic range here is unusable, much worse even the the GS5, which has a poor dynamic range.

This makes the camera unusable for anything more than showing pics on the phone's screen.

GSMArena needs to understand that a little noise can be cleaned up in PS. Blasted out light areas or dark areas without detail can never be cleaned up.

This camera is a total fail.

What's with these 6" screens lately? It's too much 5" is the limit. I bet soon 7" displays will be considered a norm.

Screens are off so we have a direct comparison here. Some sort of bug? Or is the processor THAT inefficient?

Note 4 QHD with 3220mAh got 87h rating
            While
Ascend Mate 7 FHD with 4100mAh got only 67h rating

This is such a huge disappointment..

I really like this phone. Awesome design, nice UI, great fingerprint scanner and good battery life. It will be my next phone :)

Why there is no review about lenovo k920? It will be great if gsmarena make an article about comparison of this two handset.

AnonD-160954, 18 Oct 201467 for battery life!! so disappointed why is that? Standby ruined raiting. It's chipset or unoptimized kernel/Android problem.

The Ascend Mate7 was on my shortlist. Maybe next time. That leaves only 2 unknowns - Vibe Pro 2 and Nexus 6 which I hope gsmarena also will review. But it is starting to look like the final will be between Note 4 and Nexus 6.

Could you please tell us about the grip of the back? I love the HTc One aluminium design, but it's pretty slippery. The opposite is the glass on the Xperia phones.
Where does the Mate 7 stands?
