LG G4 review: Sharp and shooter

22 May 2015
Flagships get better with every generation but some of last year’s are as good as reborn. The LG G4 improves on the three best features of its predecessor: design, screen, the camera – and does so decisively. It adopts a G Flex curve, but makes...

It's probably how people use them that makes the difference.

Well, you're wrong, then. This is the last thing people need removable batteries for. The reason we want a removable battery is because they usually have 300-500 cycles and then their capacity gets significantly reduced (And even the original capacity is usually far from enough. Charging the phone twice a day sucks. So even when the battery is new, it's only half of what you need. So any further reducing of capacity/battery life is a problem). And when you use ~2 charging cycles a day, then no more than a year and the battery will have to be replaced.

Also, people want removable batteries exactly because the capacity is too small so they either carry a spare battery or they buy an extended one. Charging twice a day is not always possible or convenient.

Tha... moreI charge my phone twice a day, but the other point I am making is that it's never frozen or become completely dead. That's the reason why most people want a removeable battery, so if the phone stops working or there is something wrong with the battery they can open the back cover and take it out and put it back in again. However I have never had the need to take my battery out, you can reset or restart a phone without the need to remove the battery so there is definitely a problem with how people are using their mobiles.

EthanX, 23 May 2015After reading the HTC M9 review and this one, I really can'... moreAbsolutely. All phones this year are a fail. Great cameras and poor batteries, poor cpus too (SD810 with the extreme overheating and power consumption), lack of SD, non-removable batteries.
LG failed to improve the battery life so despite the removable battery, sd slot and avoiding SD819, it's still a fail - another G3.

After reading the HTC M9 review and this one, I really can't understand why for HTC the critics said "It's just like last year's" while for this phone it's no the case - they look exactly the same to me, also.

So what's new? a slightly improved camera and a leather case? And what's on the plus side for this phone - active noise cancellation? Every other phone has this nowadays!

And I can put leather on the M9 also...

As i mentioned in my previous post, poeple are definitely doing something wrong with how they're using their phones.

Anonymous, 23 May 2015The battery in this phone is pretty good believe me better ... moreNo need to buy it to see it sucks. I watched a youtube review and while doing different things on the phone, the battery dropped 1% per 2 minutes. Well thanks, but no thanks. 7hours of browsing? I'm sure it's a lot less in real life usage.

looking at camera shots I see some noise.
Just now I compared details,in some parts note3 is better than g4,note4,s6... 1020 is better just a bit and noise of course.
Only difference in more detail visible is in nokia 808.
The only phone also capable of full 41Mp shot. Maybe note5,1030 will change something.

Among all my colleagues and friends and family members, I have come across a person who carries a 2nd battery with him? Gor me, a strong long standing battery is always the call of the day

I really find it strange that people need a removeable battery, in the 15 years that i've been using mobile devices i have never had to remove a battery for any reason. There must be something inherently wrong with the way people use their phones that their battery requires removing at any stage.

I'm just telling my experience based on my testing g4 unit .

If the the battery results by gsmarena might not that good for other it doesn't mean bad for all...

                          Different usage gives different results
Well infact there are other reviews says the g4'sbattery is better than this...
And an extra battery is always an advantage.

I dont know why they have to put 2K resolution in a tiny 5.5 inch screen, Full HD is more than enough, and now the battery life on those "2015 flagship" is less than half of those in 2014

vigilans, 23 May 2015You all know the single biggest cause of the quick battery ... moreDoubt it. why would it affect 2015 flagships only and not 2014 ones if that were the case?

You all know the single biggest cause of the quick battery drain on ALL 2015 flagships? Google Play Services. On my M9 it uses up to 24% power on standby, while the rest was because of Cell standby(16%) and Android OS(14%). It ruined my battery life, and it doesn't stop even during standby

If the battery not working for a removable phone, the user could change it easily.
If the battery is swollen in the non-removable phone, it will be very cool. XD.

AnonD-398429, 22 May 2015Come on that is a different story. This is about removab... moreBeing able to swap out the battery is no excuse for making an even thicker device than last year and also taller and wider. While still using the same sized display and battery.
And then comparing that even the g3 was taller and wider than the g2 but same thickness and all also had the same battery. And both the g3 and g4 have suffered in battery life.

And that the 3mm thinner, less tall and wide s6 with 450mah less battery has better performance in battery efficiency and tech power.

Also re using ddr3 didn't help either.

Just having a swapable battery does not negate all the advancements the S6 made and the advantages it has over the G4 and others.
Or the re using and downgraded areas of the G4.
