LG G4 review: Sharp and shooter

22 May 2015
Flagships get better with every generation but some of last year’s are as good as reborn. The LG G4 improves on the three best features of its predecessor: design, screen, the camera – and does so decisively. It adopts a G Flex curve, but makes...

My friend has this phone
he said that the battery life is horrible.
No wonder the company is giving away a second battery for free.

Personally I think the image quality is grainy not impressed at all. Same with Galaxy S6 I found the image quality not as amazing as people make out

tried it in a retail store and it got quite laggy as soon as i unlocked it. Still preferring S6 edge for everything--the camera is lower on paper though it captures sharper images than the G4.

what about battery life with that new firmware
that good camera is nothing if your phone is running out of power :D

The night shot sample of G4 and G3, right pic : The CVSTOS brand and Pierre Kunz brand is more readable on the G3 sample compared to the G4 sample.

Same pic : foliage on the center zoom (near the red tents) is more smeared on the G4 than on the G3.

It is actually a good thing they don't provide quick charger in the retail box. It means your battery will live longer than 6 months.

unfortunately, lg g4 dual sim doesn't have a wireless charging capability. an official quick circle case specialized for dual sim version doesn't have wireless charging pins (CCR-100C) only nfc pins. CCR-100 is the official circle case with both nfc and wireless charging capabilities.

AnonD-386419, 25 Jun 2015Hi. Got LG G4 DUAL SIM today (H818). I got extra plastic b... moreIt doesn't. Wireless charging needs special back cover. I have h818 model too. Good battery life on G4 with 3.5 to 4 hr sot. 28-34 hrs consistent battery usage. Never heated up like sd810. But does get warm enough. And also never heated like G3 during multitasking and dual window and high intensive gaming. Behemoth improvement in camera. So overall my score for G4 is 9.4/10.

one thing I noticed is that, in G4, the battery gets warm, not the upper parts where the internals are in. In G3, the upper parts where the internals gets hot not the battery.

i am using h818p, 5 weeks of usage.
                        consistent 26-30 hours battery usage.
                        3-4 sot at 41% brightness.
                        wifi always on.
gps (network only mode) always on.
                        sync always on.
                        dual sim both active.
total of an hour of voice calling.
                        sms a lot.
                        hangouts/skype/viber.
                        internet browsing/fb app.
5 hours total music playback (with headset).
vibrate on tap on/alerts all vibration on.
some pictures 5 selfies, 5-10 shots back cam auto mode. overall im so satisfied of the G4's battery and performance unlike before with my G3. and it doesn't get hot, just warm, and fast to cool down. G3 is so hot when i always multitask. but i really miss my G2, as in excellent battery, 2 days even if heavy usage. 3 days when moderate. and never gets hot, even warm.

Snapdragon 808 might be the 2nd best but atleast it wont heat up like the 810 in other flagships

There may be regional differences but i would like to share some differences between what you are sharing in the review vs what i got. I have an LG G4 international bought from Orange Romania. The box contains phone with leather back + plastic back covers, quad beats audio headset (they are some of the worst headphones i have ever used :( ) data cable and charger. the charger is 5v 1.8A and although it is not specified as quick charger it will charge my G4 from 5% to 100% in about 70min.

ANDDD, SO OOONNNN.... in the end, not buying it. the main problem, in my opinion, is price. this phone put price for snapdragon 810. who want to buy it? people will buy it if its underclocked snapdragon 810. because? it's the latest, even not the best. and 1 more thing, why all eyes on snapdragon? why so special? mediatek not a trash. they even better. i have 2 phone, oppo find 7a, using snapdragon 801, and my honor 6 using octa core mediatek (4big, 4small), release in the same year, do much better than snapdragon. power efficent, good performance. buy for the item, not buy for brand name.

Anonymous, 28 Jun 2015Planning for taking lg g4 or samsung galaxy note 4 plsTechnically the Note 4 is overall ahead. Especially the Exynos version of it is compatible in your region. But it really depends on what you want. The Note 4 has better speaker, display, headphone sound.... Especially in the Exynos, better battery life, spend, mostly better day photos, better video recording, more functional and features UI, more security, more theming and more to come, and is equal in Ram/ graphics. The Exynos has better CPU, less throttle in gpu, and better audio. G4 has some better day shots, mostly better night shots, a few more manual controls, slight lead in CPU, real leather, knock code, already on Android 5.1.
