Sony Xperia X, X Performance and XA: Sony at MWC 2016

20 February, 2016
As most others focus on phablets, Sony showed the 5" market a lot of love with the new Xperia X series. The Xperia X Performance is essentially a Z-phone in disguise. Better yet, not even the Z5 has a brushed metal back.

Z5 is indeed good, but the brilliance should pass on the common Sony phone, isn't it? Of course Sony are good, if I had to get a LED TV or Gaming console, there's no doubt that it would be Sony and nothing else, but in mobiles, there's heck of a cut throat competition.
Chinese brands offer almost the same setup with less price, other companies like HTC offer actual experience and quality, and that's where Sony needs to step up its game.

There's no doubt that Sony is an ace, but it needs to start making exceptional mobiles now.....

It is hard to tell but it seems that they have slightly change their image algorithms, more like what wee have with the Xperia M5 instead of all others Xperia models...

That's a good thing, we will see with the final retail units... At least they seem to acknowledge (maybe) that the image processing on the actual Xperia line is not very good...

GSMArena tests audio of all devices and Sony doesn't lead in it... In my opinion, HTC stands first, Samsung 2nd and Apple third... And Sony is far away in the list. Not even one present Sony device rocks the audio quality chart, nor the loudness chart.

            2. Z5 is just one good device. One flagship exception. Congrats to them for it. What about the others down the range with exception of 2-3 more Z series sets? How about a $300 Sony, would that make you happy with its camera?
Let me tell you Mr. Knowitall, smeared details, high ISO noise, excessive post processing, etc, etc and you can check it yourself on GSMArena...

Me, A Wanna-be professional? You're supporting Sony so much that you'll insult an unknown person for no reason, is it? What's your age anyways? around 16, is it? Believe me, its a compliment. Lesser age means you're young.

I've heard X performance is not coming to Europe, can anyone confirm this ? If it's true then there must be new handsets coming in September/October. Hopefully 5.3" and 4.8" compact premium devices, if not I think I'll look elsewhere. Any recommendations or rumours for a sub 5 inch handset with top specs? I'm due an upgrade in November, no apple suggestions please.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2016Blind-faithed fans are always the most entertaining people.... moreAll I see here are loads of blind faithed sony haters, claiming this or that sony feature is "crap" or "shit", and mostly without any tech knowledge or refference
So yes, I do take my "blind faithed" time to prove most of their deliberate "errors in judgement" wrong...

For ex, the haters "blind faithedly" trust in OIS of their beloved phone, but do come to "blind faithedly" crap over Sonys Steadyshot and IAM, despite the numerous factual proofs all over and about that it just does a better job in video stabilisation than OIS.
And that would be just one example...

There is the other one example, where one guy "blind faithedly" defends a lie, of course crapping on Sonys phone tech along the way, that mono speaker is somehow better audio than dual stereo speakers.

So, I again take my "blind faithed" time ti educate and proove that he is just talking nonsense.

And I must say, I enjoy it :-)
Haters are fun to debate. :-)

He did use the same car stereo in his car with the M7 and then with the Z2, and the sound was louder when using the HTC. The sub-200 euros Sony-device was the car stereo itself to which the phones were connected via 3,5mm cable.

HTC was better in this particular area (makes sense based on the GSM Arena's reviews of these phones), but other than that he did like his Z2 better (in terms of camera/battery life/daily use/design).

300 watts? I think it's more like 30 watts of real power when maxing all out, but surely the marketing team says it puts out 300 watts to help sell the product.

Sony will struggle anyway...because the thing now is 5.2" plus....5.3 or 5.5 even 5.7 and Sony dont offer a lot of phones with that size and is because that Sony dont sell more, the Mid-range Xperia T3 and M5 are all about the same and nothing special and Sony dont learn the lesson!

I remember my Z Ultra with 6.4" display, the best phone i ever have, but not good in all, the camera is a down, dont have flash and speaker as no power! But isn a deal breaker because the big screen is a must on that device!

Sony, you have to do another 6.0 or 6.4 phablet...REALLY...and put a IR blaster on it, i am sure i will buy it! But...for now i keep with my G FLex2 with exelent camera and a IR blaster for my needs! :)

Smartphones, sure, except that the majority of people don't use them as smartphones beyond connecting to a wireless network (wifi).

Most people use stock standard predefined settings and have no idea of setting up custom profiles for audio/video/photo.

                                    Do you get it now??

That is why smartphones are tested with predefined settings out of the box.
