Sony Xperia X, X Performance and XA: Sony at MWC 2016

20 February, 2016
As most others focus on phablets, Sony showed the 5" market a lot of love with the new Xperia X series. The Xperia X Performance is essentially a Z-phone in disguise. Better yet, not even the Z5 has a brushed metal back.

Most users have no clue how to change photo/video/audio settings on their phones and will use their devices with predefined settings from the manufacturer. So it's best tested with predefined settings. Be it with useless audio output or photo quality.

        2. No, apperture is not the only parameter that makes a better camera. I d listen to proffesionals with specific camera testing procedures rather than wanna be proffesionals with personal opinioning. If one says one camera is more capable than another it is only fair to explain by what measured parameters, both in photo and video. Objectivity is not based upon partial selective parameter results. DxO mark is a refference, no matter how some people try to negate their test scoring....
You say z5 only beat last year flagships but they had f1.8 opposed to f2.0 too, yet z5 was proved overall best camera over those. One could say this year flagships only will beat last year z5, but that too is yet to be seen. g5 seems worse than g4 in stills quality but not overall camera features, s7 with its 12mpx has yet to be tested, as is xperias X one too. New Lumias made some great stills, but lost it on other camera parameters. I wonder too how 4axis OIS performs on xiaomi

And since volume is not a part of sound quality, Sony can get away with a below average loud setup, ain't I right?

            2. So, its good in taking photos and vids, but manages to defeat only last (or previous) year's flagships only, and apart from the Megapixels count (it doesn't lead in that too), there's not really much to show.
And you're saying that Aperture doesn't make a good camera, is it? Then what does?

Let me tell you, compared to a f2.0, an aperture of f 1.8 will let more light inside, this will make night shots have higher shutter speed, and thus they will not have movement blur.
Plus, this aperture value will support background blur, which is a positive attribute in cinema, portrait and other photography.

            We're in 2016.

            3. Yes, I'll admit you're right here. I take back my point #3.

Could've been caused by the player he had back then, it was some Sony which wasn't that expensive (less than 200 euros). But when he used that HTC, he said that the volume was noticeably louder. GSM Arena's reviews of those Sony-phones do say that their performances aren't on par among the top-tier.

Mostly it's just the below average volume (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z5 and Z5 Premium) when headphones are plugged in. Sure, all these devices I mentioned have a clean and good output when using external amp. GSM Arena also said this about the Z5 Premium compared to other Z5's: "We were hoping that the most expensive member of the trio would fix the few niggling issues we had with its stablemates, but that's not the case."

My friend did connect his Z2 to his car stereo and asked me if it's normal that the music volume is really low compared to his ex-phone which was a HTC One M7 (no volume problems and truly a top-notch audio chip). Just read GSM Arena's own reviews and especially the audio quality test part. Output volume has always been a problem on their more recent flagships, I didn't even bother looking into their more older flagships. Audio output and the easily shattering glass among with other build quality worries was the reason I didn't buy a Z2 myself.
