LG G5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge: Flagship slugfest

24 February, 2016
This is why we love the MWC - some of the best phones of the year were announced almost side by side. Two of the headliners are the LG G5 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and we know how heated the competition between G-series and Galaxy flagship can get.

I will go for the phone that can be used to control the tv and the air conditioner, also the phone that supports the free fm radio...

Gibby, 25 Feb 2016That first comment is a bit harsh! LG (bless em) are tryi... moreIf anything, just take the modularity as a way to have removable batteries in a unibody design. You always had to turn a phone off to switch batteries, so no problem

            I'm really disappointed with Samsung's flagships ..

really Sammy?.. all what you care about is a better photos in the dark !! the G5 smoked the S7 edge in the day photos and videos and FoV and Selfies :( also G5's cam colors are closer to reality while S7 Edge's cam have a yellow cast that is clearly seen in every photo , not to mention how horrible is the 4:3 ratio or the primary fact that the S7 edge only have 12/5 mp cams compared to 16/8 mp cams (with wide cam) in the G5

the performance is another story considering the Exynos is the only available version in my country , and the benchmarks isn't in its favor, not to mention the already estimated GPU results and in whom favor it will be !!!

I have an S4 and may buy any other of samsung flagships but not the S7, cuz I like the AMOLED screens and the gr8 battery endurance in Sammy devices, and not ready to hold a G5 with its unpleasing back design and its IPS display ..

Not sure on which phone to get. Still got my nexus 4 so I need an upgrade. Samsung is waterproof, bigger battery and 5.5 inch screen. LG smaller battery and not waterproof, lg ui but two cameras and modules.
Samsung would seem to be best option but will have wait for reviews.

This might be the first time in years that the LG actually has better performance scores than the comparable Samsung, LG G5 is definitely my next phone.

The LG G5 doesn't do anything for me. I still believe the LG V10 is the best phone they have to offer. (Currently using one as my daily driver.)

As for Samsung.. i must say all the new refinements are great. It's basically a better Galaxy S6 Edge+ if you will ;) lol. The smaller foot print, bigger battery, and amazing camera make it overall better than the LG G5.. in all fairness though the LG G5 should of been compared to the S7 not the S7 Edge.. just saying...

In this brief camera shoot out i can see that the pictures came out better on the S7 Edge but the video looks better from the G5. The G5 has great manual controls so this is kind of a toss up now that i think about it more and more.

All in all i'll be keeping my LG V10 for a while, probably a few years, it's built like a tank and offers everything these 2 offer without any real compromise.

eww LG G5? who really wants that crappy design and annoying modular useless gimmick? LG G5 is yes, a flagship phone by specs. but ruined by design! display is cheaply made too. it is looking like a typical chinese K'O flagship that just dressed with metal. but still looking like a twat!

samsung is best, have the best display yet again in a mobile phone, best camera, better build quality and now even IP 68 protection.. the module design by lg is something a small 5 year old would have wanted.. nobody in their right mind buys a lg g5 for that nonsense gimmick to hardly any use....

Only want to say that lg made flagship device lg g5 they provide lots of features. But they always miss the battery capacity for a quad hd display. Like. Lgg4 which is very very bad
