Huawei P9 review: Ascension

15 April, 2016
Huawei pulled the wraps on its next flagship in London in early April. But do you know what's better than London? Shooting London with the Huawei P9. The city looks magical throughout the P9's Leica lens and the phone feel fabulous throughout your eyes. Yes, the Huawei P9 has a lot going on and all of it seems promising.

ethereal, 16 Apr 2016”huge" is way too exaggerated! Don't forget the P9 is st... morei dont need to exaggerate that fact ! The performance is really a huge let down.Compair it with others its light years behind in performance..Its like the Nokia Lumia 1020 which has a very good camera but is very slow cause of the underpowered chipset.

Camera of the year... worth every penny

At first I thought that the P9 and P9 Plus were overpriced. Well, the camera is co-developed with Leica and Leica ain't cheap so I'll just let it go for the moment. But when I read the review I think both P9 worth every penny.

Mind you I'm not a gamer or a heavy user so the CPU and the GPU don't mind me at all. And my comment is for me and myself only and doesn't represent anyone else so don't go telling me the CPU performance is nowhere near the flagships on the market rn.

Dre, 16 Apr 2016To be honest, and this comes from a HUGE Huawei fan, the pr... moreyep the price is high "leica" wanna some profit from the device too you know ... waiting for the price to stabilize is a good decision right now as some ppl will try to get as many gold from you as possible ... the single sim version seem to support Band 12 (T-Mobile) and Band 17 (AT&T) check huawei site to be in the safe side ... :( am trying very hard to be patient for both version to be release in my country.

The best camera ever in a phone. S7 and G5 users will now be bitter with jealousy.

Good hardware, very good software but software is bad. It doesn't look like it is running Android 6.

I mean by this review is
Perfomance is great but gpu is low performing,
Camera is awsome, is one of best.
                      built quality is great.
                      One of best design.

Only missings are gpu performance and water proofing
                      I LOVE HUAWEI,

Before this I see many ppl gave negative comments on P9 regarding the dual camera. I don't see them here haha. Well seeing how beautiful the low light shots are, who's gonna hate the camera now. I mean look at those low light shots! Better than any flagship on the market rn by a wide margin.

Everybody from Samsung, Lg, Sony and Iphone are trying to be the perfect photography phone, whoever will guess that Huawei will be the one who nailed first. Its make so much sense, that a phone is really not DSLR camera for pro or at least people who took photography 101 course. The P9 night mode is a good example, it makes photography easy. People with no knowledge of photofraphy will learn something from the camera mide UI....

sweet ... It's beautiful ... P9 rocks ... the scheduled power on and off feature is handy ... B&W are amazing ... right now i can't decide which one to buy P9 or P9 plus but my guts tells me to go for the "Plus version" anyway i guess i will wait a little bit longer to check both of them once they become available in my country.

thanks gsmarena for your honest review.

                            cheers.

Great camera shots. Yay we can see the grass blades! They kept noise reduction down unlike in Samsung's terrible post processing (I have the S6) where grass is mushy. Same with S7.
I still feel the P9 could use better post processing. They should have used a larger sensor with bigger aperture and bigger pixels.
                              B&W shots are superb!
However, GSMArena should have taken some manual shots with 5secs and more shutter speed at night. The night mode is oil painting. You can see that uses max amount of noise reduction in Night mode. I want to see what the camera is capable of without that special mode. Seems like a superb camera!

AnonD-100398, 16 Apr 2016excellent design ,camera but the performance is a huge let down!”huge" is way too exaggerated!

Don't forget the P9 is still a flagship with only few shortcomings which won't affect many anyway.

                                Get your facts right!
