Xiaomi Mi Max review: Hulked up

06 June 2016
Goodbye Alexander Bell, hello Tim Berners-Lee and Ray Tomlinson. The inventor of the telephone would not have approved of the hulking 6.44" but the Xiaomi Mi Max is the kind of device the pioneers of WWW and email would love it.

Xiaomi phones are great, but they, including Mi Max, do not support all the LTE bands. In my country, some operators make heavy use of Band 20 (800 MHz), so this means the LTE performance of Mi Max will be crippled because it does not have Band 20. So unfortunate:(

You can load the right software yourself, check my other comment on this page. Remember to unlock your bootloader first (don't worry, you can relock it again, and it doesn't void your warranty)

Visit https://xiaomi.eu/community/ and download the latest ROM for your phone. Install TWRP (follow the instructions on their site) and flash the ROM through recovery. If you need help visit http://www.xda-developers.com/

C'mon, Xiaomi and Microsoft.. either launch new Windows 10 Mobile version of these awesome phones or let buyers install it on them.

Xiaomi is doing what it does best...injecting models into competitions price range...good going...

AnonD-436254, 08 Jun 2016dude, you must read the review again, end of page 3! web br... morei'm not talking about durance i'm saying if it finishes during the daytime you should wait a long time for it to finish charging, it could be the 2nd or 3rd day not the 1st day of use so that doesn't change the lack of quick charge.
and you know if you just half charge your phone "all the time" the battery will lose it's calibration and full life over time soon.

I'm highly interested because of its excellent battery life. So I could use it as secondary device.

Can anyone who is familiar with Xiaomi devices and other Chinese phones help me: is there any international version of Mi Max or Mi 5 which is preinstalled with Google Play Store? I mean, preinstalled by Xiaomi and not third parties. I know I could buy from online retailers, which have modified the phones and installed Google Play Store. But for me any device modified by third parties is a security risk!
