You'll be able to buy $10 USB C headphones as well. You can't control balance or other things from your analog headphones without phone hardware support. And tell me, how do you do noise cancelling without a battery on analog headphones? My point is that it opens up innovation with increased flexibility.
Again if you want to use your existing expensive headphones without an adaptor then don't buy a phone without a headphone jack, but for everyone else it's a better option to buy USB C becuase it's the future.
LOL at how offended people are by the idea of USB C headphone. You'd think they gave you cancer or something.

Do you really think that I'll pay U$200 on a headphone with USB-C? I can't use it anywhere else, my desktop and my laptop have 3.5mm jack, my home-theater uses 3.5mm jack for connecting audio devices too, my guitar amplifier have 3.5mm audio output too for listening the guitar on the headphones.
You're funny, "use a USB hub" and risk myself die by being electrocuted by the charger? No, thanks, and BTW, who wants to connect a ENTIRE USB hub to their phone? I think no one does.
U$200 is what I paid for my phone (Redmi Note 3 Pro), paid almost U$300 for a KOSS I150, sorry but I don't want another one, I'm satisfied with the superb audio quality that I get from my in-ear KOSS earphones, that was so expensive, because I care a lot about audio quality, I have a collection of lossless audio on my PC and my phone, if you don't, I don't care about your clueless opinion, you don't even know how audio output works, this USB-C phone that you cited is still a analog headphone with a noise canceling unit, 3.5mm plug headphones already have that for ages!

Again, you've got no imagination. With a digital interface you can have more controls on your headphones, such as left right balance, bass boost or better sound processing such as improved noise cancelling processing. There are many possibilities.
Here's a great example: noise cancelling headphones that don't need batteries!

If you... moreI wish you people would think before flaming others...you may not get it but some people have invested hundreds of pounds in their headphones, Bose, Beats, Sennheiser, Bower & Wilkins etc. and they are mighty fine. Personally, I have no issue with Lenovo as they bundle an adapter with the handset, however, a company that fails to do the same is a pass from me!

If you don't want to carry around an adaptor get a pair of USB C headphones, they'll be on the market shortly and they'll have more features that dumb analog headphones. When you see what's possible you'll probably ask yourself why you bothered with analog headphones for so long.
The problem is that most people can't see very far into the future and they're generally afraid of change, thus the wailing and gnashing of teeth over getting rid of an ancient analog port.

I use my phone headphone jack a lot and I know lots of people who do too! No wants to carry a adapter and Bluetooth audio quality isn't as good as wired output, besides it's one more battery for me to charge.
I rather have a thicker phone with a headphone jack and bigger battery than one with mediocre battery life and without 3.5mm jack for the sake of thinness.
