Moto Z Droid review: Birth of a new successor

29 July 2016
Lenovotorola. Motonovo. Motorola. We should stop dwelling on what to call them as it really doesn't matter now. Since Lenovo's acquisition of Motorola has been completed, Lenovo has developed a successor to the Moto X lineup which had a great three-generation run.

Poor camera, poor battery life, do I really need to go on? Don't worry, right now it's my opinion yes, but after this garbage hits the stores and then you'll realise that its everybody's opinion after the sales figure.

Also I'm not planning on spending $600 on this phone. It'll be $350 within 6 months.

I reallt love GSMarena.com, but it is unfortunate when the "professionals" write things that are completely untrue based on bias or misinformation. Specifically, Im referring to the lines about the "...had a great three-gen run" for the Moto X lineup - When Lenovo/Motorola have publicly said the Moto Z lineup is new and not to be confused with the Moto X lineup.
As a big fan of the (Moto) X's and also a big fan of GSMarena.com; Im caught off guard and receiving such words at this point along in the year from a "professional" in this industry; moreover, in the journalism department.
Anyway... My official comment is... Moto X is still coming for 2016, and Im anxious to see what will come to be released this year (Im hoping for a return to 5.2" like the 2nd gen)... and the Moto Z, well, LOOKS AWESOME and knowing Moto, probably runs SUPER SMOOTH, but Mods will be a luxury and very likely not to catch on...
              The future is in VR...

this is an all-day phone and i agree that the battery is good for a day or less depending on the usage. i wont compare this with the other brands for this is a perfect creation for the passion for innovation! im sure some other brands will come out with this concept soon. watch it! hope this will reach the Philippines for change has come!

I find it funny that a great deal of you complain about the poor battery life yet none of you have tried it. Or at least most of you have yet to try it. The phone is two days old and already you trash the battery life. You must be millennials.

How long do you really need to go on your phone before you have to charge? Wanting more (bigger) battery only tells me your constantly on your device. Maybe this isn't the phone for you. Maybe you should go buy a Note 3 and a whole bunch of extra batteries.

Forget the fact that more and more public places are adding charging stations. Or the fact you could purchase a battery mod so you can find your Pokemon all day long. Forget the fact that the newer CPUs are designed to prolong battery life which is why most companies are going with smaller batteries. Carrying around a usb-c cable to plug into a charging station takes no room at all in your pocket. Or, since you're millennials, just pop the charger that comes with the device into your satchel. No one really thinks they're man purses anyway. ;-)

I will say it's doesn't seem much better do far than the DT2 but I've only had it fit a few hours. It feels better in my hand than the dt2. Camera send a bit better and got better marks on dxo mark. Over all I really like the phone, but I did get a free JBL speaker mod. 😎

It is right that they are much more efficient then ever, they charge fast n all but what would happen when they begin to lose charge quickly ? At that point of time all this metallic beauty will be be good for nothing.

Good phone but the price is too damn high...kills it. Better alternatives in the market right now and seeing this is an exclusive of Verizon, by the time it's available unlocked, even better alternatives are out, like the Note7 or new Nexus. The battery is cr*ap...unacceptable really for 2016 flagship omg...
                                    Bye Moto...

In India I don't know why people care for headphone jack. It makes no sense if hands free is not to be used.

I have seen 80% of public using phones without hands free while driving and playing music at full volume in public.

So I don't think we indians should worry about headphone jack, coz anyways most of crowds don't use it.
