I would say every major brand can be ashamed when comparing 4K with OP3T. Its like foggy world. Recommend for all to see what 4K resolution is. Mainly sony.

If the OnePlus HD stuck to the textured black back and added a round home button in the back rather than bottom (maybe even ala LG volume ctrl on back also) I'd be all over it. As it is, I'll wait out this generation and pickup something in a few months.

I owned a OnePlus one, it always has some bug or the other (call drops, restarts, GPS, etc etc) never used it peacefully for a day. It was frustrating to say the least. And I don't expect things to have changed much in 3/3t. I think it is better to invest in more standard companies like Moto, HTC and Samsung just for peace of mind which is invaluable

This is simply skimming the surface! I use the Google Pixel XL and having used every top end android phone and the iPhone up to the 6 Plus, there is really only one choice for me personally and that is the GP XL. Yes, I wish it was £200 cheaper or even £100 cheaper but simply no comparison from my perspective. In the absence of the Pixel Xl, sure I would have considered the OP3t but we are where we are and the Pixel is here. The only other phone I would have considered as my daily driver would have been the Note 7 which I used for a couple of weeks before the exploding batteries became real issue, coupled with Sammy's poor customer service. The Note is but a foot note in history and it will take an amazing phone to tear me away from the Pixel XL. To use it is to appreciate it and if you've not owned it, not sure you can meaningfully comment.

Google's security updates and updates in general cannot be compared to the OnePlus, period. Hands down the Pixel wins in this area. The OnePlus is using a forked version of Android with OnePlus tweaks on top. A Chinese company controlling security and software updates for phones sold in North American. That sums it up right there. The Pixels have support for Daydream VR out of the box. They also support Vulkan graphics. The OnePlus right now does not. The Pixels EIS is amazing in comparison to OnePlus OIS. I believe the Pixels EIS will become the standard in future smartphones. Its hardware cost less is less than OIS cameras and the stability of EIS will only improve over time. Google is proving that with software.

oneplus software updates are utter crap. I own a oneplus and they only update their latest flagship and abandon their other phones (that are not even 1 yr old). I dont think any reviewers out there even know about this as they don't use the phone long enough. I would go with the pixel any day knowing I will get 2 yrs worth of OS updates guarantee.

Why choose Google as the winner based only on the name of "Nougat"? What's so great about Nougat that Marshmallow cruelly lacks? It's not like it's Nougat vs Cupcake, both phones were launched on the same year, let's get real for a second.
I'm an Android enthusiast, but I really don't understand this obsession on the newest (except maybe for security) especially if, as you said twice in this review, the contender actually balances this by offering more features to the software experience...

Semantics aside, what this article is basically saying is the Pixel XL is an overpriced iPhone-wannabe phone from Google and the OP3T kills it without even resorting to the value for money argument :)

I will never own a phone as boxy as pixel XL. That alone stops the discussion immediately. I don't know why Google prefers such a boxy design, it's bland and unappealing.
As for the rest they are too close by to decide (timely updates or pixel, but not supported for as long as OnePlus devices - better resolution for pixel but worse performance because of it and irrelevant without using VR - better colours for pixel camera, lower detail - and so on , so forth, the two phone are matches in everything apart from design).

CAMERA. ONE thing which differentiates the two phones, period. Just look at that building's photo, in those tiles you will see blue and yellow from the Pixel sample, but all white from the OnePlus 3, that's not acceptable.
Can't speak for OP3's consistency of performance, not talking about burst performance, where OP3 has the lead over Pixel XL, for extra 2 gigs of RAM, and having 1080p display.
If camera doesn't bother you and you are okay with a new Chinese brand then you can go for the OP3T. The build quality is better, the phone looks much better, the charging tech is the undisputed winner, fastest and most practical position for the fingerprint reader, OP3 has a lot going for it honestly, but like I said, if camera matters, then its no go. Even the half priced Moto G4 Plus takes almost as good photos like the OP3 in day light, so there you go.
I finally went ahead for the Pixel XL and don't regret my decision even a little bit, though I don't like the design but still the software experience and the camera have made me forgive the device's high price tag.

you can't put a minus on the software as the pixel is the only device running 7.1, no other oem has released 7.0 yet, not to mention 7.1 so until bigger players have rolled out 7.0 the software argument doesn't stand...would be great to see a follow up review after the 3T gets the nougat update
my opinion on the 3T: selfie camera should have stayed 8mp with a higher aperture, main camera should have got a newer 16mp sensor (example imx398), sim/micro sd combo slot would be really nice, qhd would be nice but as I'm not using VR I don't have a problem with fhd, and the worst problem is that I can't find a good tempered glass
