Meizu Pro 6 Plus review: imPROved

18 January 2017
Meizu Pro 5 used to be an excellent device and when the company didn't follow the same formula with the Pro 6 it left many of us surprised and its fans disappointed due to the choice of specs, which didn't seem to make it a true successor to Meizu's top dog. Today, the new Pro 6 Plus brings back the big 5.7" AMOLED screen and also comes with 1440p resolution. It comes with the top-end Exynos chip by Samsung - the same one that powers the Galaxy S7 series.

Whats the difference between the mx line and the pro line. I was always under the impression that the mx line was the flagship?.

Ive always appreciated Meizu phones, but they charge such a premium now compared to how they started off, combined with lack of after sales care that worries me from jumping the gun.

Fast charging hasn't helped but I can still get 2.5-3 SOT frequently, 4 hrs on a good day. Use to be able to get 5 hr SOT but that was a distant memory.

Looks like a great phone. The only thing I can critique is the bloatware

We're always being tracked and blah blah blah. The ones controling people want you to think you are free. It makes the job easier for them as they have less things to explain. Also let's wait for results of the Helio X30, but I hope it'll be good. BTW you do know that even the upcoming Exynos and SnapDragon 835 are also manufactured in 10nm, right? A few friends of mine do S6, and it can definitely manage more than 3 hours of SOT. But I do agree S6 has a poor battery life among Samsung flagships. Maybe those comments could be true, maybe not. Who knows? I am not one to argue, so good day mate. Cheers! :)

why phone must using powerbank as a trend.

However, I sometimes wonder why these numbers do not translate into most users "real world" experience? Take for example Samsung S6 who got an endurance rating of 73 which is quite good, at the same time many users claim that the battery life of S6 is complete garbage. Reading on forums some people only get around 2-3 hours SOT. So I think Samsung is an outlier rather than Meizu.

We were only discussing about Mediatek's "flagship" chispests, which is the Helio X20/X25. Once again you have proved my point.

The Meziu MX6 with FHD screen manages an average 68h from 3060mAh battery using Helio X20 chipset.
But the comparable Samsung Galaxy A8 with FHD screen gets an excellent 98h from 3050mAh using a Snapdragon chipset.
                                  http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8078&idPhone2=7249

It's true, software optimization matters a lot, but a lot depends on how energy efficient the chipset truly is.

Meizu MX6 got a endurance rating of 68h from a 3060 mAh battery. A good score for such a small battery. Meizu Max which uses Helio P10 and a 4100mAh battery got an endurance rating of 100h. Also very good. This clearly proves that mediatek chips (both Helio P10 and X20) is efficient enough with the right software optimization.
