Sony Xperia XZs review: Slow (e)motion

Slap a new camera on the Xperia XZ, et voila - you have yourself a brand-new flagship. Is Sony taking advantage of a smartphone-induced decrease in human attention span? Or just doing what everyone else does?

There are so many weaknesses that i can sink my teeth into on the XZs, average(at best) battery life, poor screen colour reproduction, less than steller photo corner sharpness, poor camera location...should be in the middle...not in the corner, only single LED flash, 960fps for only 1/16th of a second is a joke, no OIS...It's funny how they would try retaliate by either posting external links (which are not relevant here cause my comments are based on gsma articles) or by picking any other random brand a bashing it, not having a clue what brands i support ;)

                Sony is still with the bold/old marketing strategy. Wth your new flagship smartphone with 5.2 inch screen and put 2900mah small battery capacity?! for flagship smartphone sony must put the screen size up to 5.5 to 6.0 inches,not 2014/2015 display size and small battery capacity! its 2017 already and with that specs, it's really really unacceptable for that price! (except for the camera part). That's why sony is forgotten by many people day by day because they dont follow or hear what people/customers really needed and wants like bigger battery capacity 4200mah above and screen size 5.5 inch above),or maybe, they just dont cares what most sony wannabe wants in their latest flagship at all. All sony cares is just they're too focus to their camera segment,which is good,but at the same time they're didn't focus at their screen display and battery segment,which is 1 of the most important part for every smartphones that all of us looking at.

                    I really dont mind f2.0 even for lowlight, just look at huaweis f2.2 lowlight results.

                    It only boils down to managing a bit with manual to get best results in lowlight, I am not keen to trade in daylight photo quality for a bit of lowlight camera managment nuisance, as I mostly do shoot photos in good light.

                      Not sure why people are complaining on Sony about this. Thus is Sony at its best, it is what they have been doing for decades in consumer electronics, putting one or two new things on the same product and release it as the new version. And it is working as Sony has decided to focus one specific customer segment, their fans.

Did see comparison of sony, dslr and other flagship on nbcheck, only sony managed to catch similar colors, and that was old flagship, this looks better, even 4K video is less foggy. With others having less Mp than my old phone now - 9Mp in wide, sonys 17Mp picture feels like real thing.

                          When the noise is eliminated by heavy noise reduction, people say it's overly processed and lacks detail.

                          When the noise is present while maintaning high amount of detail, people say it's too grainy.

With the G6's mid range cameras and U Ultra's pathetic prices for their mid packed performer? Why do you care about bezels too much? The world is never gonna end with bezels, and they are there to protect the screen from drops and to lay your hands on when using the phone. If you care about looks only, I'd rather have an all-screen phone instead, not this overhyped small bezel phones

                              2. I don't see those two having less bezels because the HTC 10 has as big bezels as the XZ, while the XZ is packing a larger front sensor compared to the 10. And the Motorola phones never had those large camera sensors inside, hence why they managed to pack a slightly smaller bezels. Nothing could be prettier than a phone that looks just as a phone it is.
                              If you don't know what distortions I'm talking about, then let me tell you to your brain that those dual curved edge screens will be fully utilized by every content and the content will distort badly by slipping out of the normal viewing angle of the screen. But I do get that you love watching videos in 180° angle.

                              That has to be one of the lamest statement I have ever heard in my entire existence. Sony phones look nowhere as like any other phone, but you're very high. Da hell is that statement of Chinese phones having better performance, camera, and stock Android?
                              Look at Oppo's OS - true definition of stock android lol
                              3T's performance is due to the faster memory, yet the 2017 G6 with same hardware and even less RAM can destroy this garbage any day, and so will Sony. BENCHMARKS AREN'T EVERYTHING.
                              For best cameras, ask DxOMark about it. The only best Chinese phone camera is the P10 with a score of 85, and as far as I know, XZ scored 87 in the same test - it's higher, so it's obviously better.

                                    At 960 fps, your per frame shutter speed is around 1/960th of a second... EVEN DSLR's have problem shooting this high in damply lit conditions.

                                    Had they chosen a f /1.8 or f/1.7 aperture or even better, Sony could've got a little help with light for this, this slow motion technique, as well as overall night photography...

                                    But I'm sure Samsung and LG must be watching this phone with a raised eyebrow.... if you know what I mean.

                                      gsma says its noisy, but its finally not that bad that it destroys picture, so for ex. if you look at sky, it looks like sky. Me impressed.
