Nokia 8 review: Connecting the dots

25 August 2017
This is it then. The long-awaited Finnish flagship that goes all in against the phones that rule today. The Finnish cameraphone returning to claim the prize that was once its birthright. Everybody bow and make way?

If it's too expensive for you or not worth the price , then simply don't buy the product. For some, it will be worth it. Stop looking down on people because of their choices. We all have free will. If you don't like the song, change the station. Simple, no?

People have lost any common sense and self-respect (And the respect they need to lose is the one for all these mega evil and insane manufacturers).

People with WORKING brain would NEVER buy Nokia AGAIN as long as they still use the same old formula they used to: made CHEAP devices with one/two striking features, OVER-advertising it, sell it as PRICEY as possible to make it seem like a "proper" premium "flagship-grade" device, while actually most of the spareparts are only worth 1/4 the asking price!

Hell, they even shows the same old "habit" of theirs in making Nokia 3, 5, and 6, that is: CHEAPSKATE.
The OLD Nokia used ARM11 to power their Symbian Anna & Belle, refused to upgrade the SoC to Cortex A series like SE did with the Satio.
The result? the ONCE KING (Nokia) forced to SELL its mobile phone manufacturing to MS!

I hope people REMEMBER THAT and AVOID buying ANY Nokia-made device as long as they still made OVERPRICED, out-of-date, low-specs devices!

p.s As long as Nokia FULLY MADE by Foxconn, people will ALWAYS comparing it with Chinese brand, especially Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Meizu for their great bang-for-the-buck flagship killer devices!

And No, Nokia build quality, especially 8, is no different from the other 2017 flagships, asthe other flagship are not made by a bunch of noobs like what u Nokia FANBOYS are always believed in!

I'm always amazed at the number of negative comments here on GSMArena when it comes to Nokia. I'd love to hear from all these whiners after the Nokia 8 goes on sale and flies off the shelves.

AnonD-687982, 27 Aug 2017Do a research. Motorola is never considered a good camera phone. ahh I see that's why on 2015 moto is the 3rd best camera phone and in 2016 they are second to Samsung so make some research dude this nokia of yours will score 85 or 86 on DXOmark.

Hi!. Gsmarena is satisfied with camera quality but it´s charts desagree!!! Even Nokia 6 shows clearly more detail (see Lincoln´s face). Could this be that focus issue? Maybe a misslaignment between monochrome and color sensors -something fixable through sw- ? If not, Nokia 8 is a lot worse than competition. Even midrange. I hope gsmarena elaborate on this. Any way thank you for the great and extensive review

Pleased to read comment from someone so down to earth. Agreed with every dot in it.
People is mostly comparing it with Chinese prices of devices not officially avaible in EU and US to "prove" pricing of this device is not right, but forgetting about prices in EU(and US for the matter of fact).
So this Nokia 8 has competitors in Honor9,OP5 and g6, which are priced right about the same and s8, iP7 which still costs a 150€ more, but obviously are proper flagships.

Nokia 9 will cost more, and that one will be considered as direct competitor to thoose 2, and others like Sony's XZ1 premium-pro, LG V30, htc ultra, pixel 2...

Even if it had 41 mpx, your phone would still be irrelevant to the market. Nokia needs to fight Samesung not motorola. Motorola has almost no traction, it also does not present any threat for Nokia. It never did.

harwey, 26 Aug 2017So,good old Nokia is back.As I can see, they've built a prop... moreMi6 is there, but people are still buying s8, ip7 and similar flagship that cost 300$ more. Guess why!?
                                Because they are worth it!!!
I had 5 of Xiaomi mobile phones, and will never again buy one.
A few months I said I will consider it, after they offer devices officially one Europe (with service support and full warranty), but now I am sure that I won't even if that happens...never again Xiaomi.

If Nokia 8 comes with this price in EUROPE (that is 200€ less than s8 price, when it came out), it will be one of the best buys (g6 and op5 are other two to consider, but I'm expecting better sw and service support from Nokia).

They should have gone with OLED instead in order the phones battery life to be better. Sadly S8 and Note 8 took the lead despite 1440p AMOLED. But the Nokia 8 is a different story. 1440p LCD=brightest screen of all time 701nits together with always on display!!!!!!!
