Huawei Mate 10 review

28 October 2017
The fall may as well be the season of phablets. Apple, LG and Samsung are the usual suspects but Huawei wants in too – as a front-runner, mind you, not an also-ran. Like its illustrious rivals, Huawei is also yielding to the pressure and the new Mate 10 is trying hard to please the fickle crowd.

For a phone review website you sure don't have anyone knowledgable doing the review. Which would be fine if you solicited user feedback on what sorts of questions to address in the review, but you don't.

How many background processes does EMUI 8 allow before force closing them? Are notifications back on the lock screen? Is date of data use counting user adjustable or are they still removing that from AOSP?

Seems like small sensor what is shame for such phone(same as missing camera button). But what I miss the most is hdr+ like processing for color sensor.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2017LOL more fairytales. You can't get 10h unless you're just s... moreActually it is not , I have had 10+ hours screen on time on my S8+ , I actually thought the phone was broken because I did not believe it , so I took a note of subsequent days and weeks of my battery life , and it was legit .
Now some months down the track I have added apps and changed settings and my battery life has shrunk somewhat , but my average seems now to be 6 to 7 hours which is still quite good for my use .
I tested mine in performance mode I might add.
            I'm convinced of two things
One is that diligent and common sense application of the phones settings without engaging economy modes can still give very good battery life .
The second thing is, I think Samsung's software has improved leaps and bounds , and this shows in the general running of the phone.

Video is not the sharpest, colors half way to 950XL, noiseless. Stills got nice colors, still far from sharp but 20mp mono samples got detail level of sony's xa line. Hope gsmarena brings color 20mp samples too. great work huawei.

Looks like it force the performance to s835 grade through overclocking it .

"The all-glass design and the sharp, borderless display are the right stuff to get the Mate 10 noticed and talked about. But they are the we-can-too sort of features rather than you-saw-it-here-first. Or maybe it's us being just pleased when we were looking to be wowed. That's the thing - the Mate 9 and 9 Pro would do just that, for a fraction of the price."
                  Seriously?
I don't see the point of this conclussion, i mean, does the S8, Note 8, V30, etc. something different than the last year flagships? I don't know what you want from the Mate 10 to do.
And i wonder, the new chipset wiith AI, you saw it here first before?

WOrld1, 28 Oct 2017It clearly talks in Euro so check the Europe price before s... moreDuh. I compared both phones in non European price because the gsmarena made mistake of converting S8+ and Note 8 price of non European market and comparing with European price of Mate10.

Mate10 is officially available in Spain and it cost 700 Euro vs S8 780 Euros vs S8+ 880 Euros vs Note8 1010Euros, all in Spain.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2017S8, S8+ and Mate 10 all have default resolution set at FHD.Then maybe its done on fhd

Alex, 28 Oct 2017Hey guys, how do you change the 1440p resolution to 1080p? ... moreIt basically renders the screen in 1080p or 720p and upscales it to 1440p so you reduces the processing power needed to drive the high Res display which inturn reduces power draw

(Think rendering a 1080p Resolution game on a 4k Screen with a gtx 1080Ti with the FPS capped at 60fps, the GPU load will be low and the clock speed will go down as well to save power)

You likely got in from resellers who will increase the price and deliver at a depending on when they themselves are able to get the device from Huawei store online or offline.

Mate 10 is not for Mate 9 users. It targets for Mate 8 users and phablet lovers.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2017EMUI has one of the best UIs It used to seriously suck in the past, but the 5.0.1 -version my Mate 9 has now, it's actually damn good. And like people said, it's absolutely the smoothest Android-UI I have ever used so far, along with some newer OnePlus-devices.
