Wow, looks like my Nokia 6 is better value for money then. I don't have the fingerprint or Bluetooth issues, no lag/stutter in launcher and Google camera app takes good pictures.
With better build and larger screen

I think this new Nokia played it safe. Maybe a slightly boring phone. But solid build quality just look at the test at JerryRigEverything.
      The pricing is alright to.

The new phones looks promising Nokia 6 (2018 edition) a Nokia 7 Plus are on its way to. And probably a new Nokia 8 Sirocco. But we will wait to MWC 2018 to see them be launched.

Sonyuser85, 03 Feb 2018If I am not mistaken a few years ago when Nokia opened the ... morenot quite true actually. Camera lens does matter because its the first thing the light hitting the camera makes contact with. if you don't have a quality lens it wont be sharp and it will have abberation/chromatic.

Nokai had 3 things that were unique that not even sony or apple/samsung could match. The specialized sensor (now owned by sony), the software needed to combine pixels now used by sony and others, and the Zeiss lens which is the best lens company in the world. All these 3 things is what made them stand out.

now Nokia is dead. And sony is the one set to be able to replace such camera prowess but only if sony improves software since they have quality lenses and good sensors. its only the third piece they lack.

As it's the first flagship after the separation from Microsoft, it would have been good to see how the phone compares with the last flagship (Lumia 950). Obviously there are various aspects which are better, but would have been good to see where you felt they faltered (or taken a step back).

Sonyuser85, 03 Feb 2018If I am not mistaken a few years ago when Nokia opened the ... moreNot quite. The 808 even had a separate processor just for images, which no one did before or after, and was known for using the 41 megapixel sensor to make ultra high quality 5 or 8 megapixel pics made from having several pixels combined into one. When it was released, Damian Dinning, Nokia's then-head of camera department, gave an interview to GSMArena, he did the same when the N8 was released (I still have that one). There were other prominent engineers too, like Juha Alakarhu and Ari Partinen. They usually did extensive testing to make sure that their flagship cameras gave as natural as possible images in all possible conditions, and those were well known for "unprocessed" look (no boosting of contrast, sharpness or color to make images more attractive), partly thanks to the camera sensors, as you say - but it did take some software wizardry to get there. As for Zeiss - who knows, phone lens aren't so big as to make a significant difference, but it doesn't hurt to have some extra assurance of quality.
However, none of those people work for Nokia's phone division nowadays, and I assume they just buy generic sensors where everyone else buys them. This one's camera is just another camera.

A first effort with Android OS..
The 8 of 2018 is different and then comes the Super 9 and 10. Bring it on.

Can you stop for a minute comparing it to the pixel ? Pixel is god damn awful device with terrible pricing. It aims to be the iphone of the android world but the truth is One Plus is better in every single way.

If I am not mistaken a few years ago when Nokia opened the doors to the 808 model, an imaging engineer told on some interesting site (at that time compared to Dx0mark), that Nokia has no special camera processing comparing to other brands and their only benefit was the contract they had with Japanese suppliers of great quality camera sensors at that time (Toshiba based sensors now owned by Sony) and that engineer also said that is only a marketing bluff to talk about Zeiss lens to manage real performance on a phone camera. After these years (aprox. 8) seeing what Nokia did to their devices it terms of camera quality (this one mostly), seems that he was right...

I don't get it. I have this device since october and have none of the problems, bugs, frustrating things that have been mentioned. It is a truly amazing phone.

                            Long-Term Review.
Why such a long time to provide this review ?
This type of review should be there from years ago so the readers can choose and consider wheter their dream flagship is worth every penny or not at all.
                            Thanks GSMA.

its funny to read this....but nokia is for me the best for that t moment when it comes to overall package...oreo 8.1.....great software speed....i dont understand where it slows down, but i don see this. Pretty good battery, great build quality. jack 3,5mm. fast charging. fast updates, almost stock android (for me is a pros). nice to feel n hand, less than 5,5 inches (well i also dont like new 18:9 style, where we dont have bezels but we have keys on screen)

Dear people its a first of the flagships after a very long time lets say the next device will outpreform anything else that other competitors will make.
I believe to that and i am sure of it.

I don't get it. I have Nokia 8 and I don't have any issues like lags or slow downs. App drawer is also smooth. Maybe it is because I did factory reset after Oreo update.

It is an annoying phone, you haven't noticed other key problems like the phone stops detecting micro sd card reading at times if you go to flight mode, the range detection is horrible, if too many apps are then even basic photo loading on quick pic or any third party app goes for a toss, camera quality is entry level android, if you are trying bothie then front cameras low light capacity goes for a toss and the lag. Seriously !!!!! It's a Snapdragon 835 !!!!......

Perfect timing as I was thinking of buying it after the price cut. After applying the offers, it's almost of 300$.
