Samsung Galaxy S9 review

09 March 2018
It's true what they say - you don't fix what's not broken. And that's what Samsung did for the Galaxy S9 - it didn't change what was already great, it just tweaked specs wherever possible. And it has worked out just fine for them.

Probably fine weren't for the price bump. They seem to holding back the price drops of the S8's. My S8+ remains at the same price since I bought it last October

Can you recommended some phones in this category and may be below 25k in india with reliability and decent camera performance. I dont game at all. Good resale value will be a bonus.
As a side note can I still buy new iPhone 6 32gb available for 24k new. I guess it should last 2 years and it has decent camera and music quality.

But i wouldn't call an imperfect smartphone "best". The best smartphone by IOS shouldn't be with a cutout.

Within two years it will be as slow as an entry level phone, nothing to care about. I would get an iPhone and sell it in 3 years and I'll use the money for a new phone. Everybody knows that iPhones hold their value better than anything else.

I had a look at it and it is still annoying at looking at content through the curved edges. Samsung displays are only good for movies or games not for reading. I prefer the iPhone X display (horns and at all) because it is a much neater, flat screen.

Got this today, and it is a lovely phone, but it did lead me to think that in the future we ARE going to see a slowdown in the Premium market.

Why? My S7 Edge still runs fine. The battery life is still superior (3600mAH) although it has deteriorated over these last two years, and it simply does everything that a casual user would want it to. The display is noticeably inferior when placed side by side, but is still very nice, hell the camera still takes great shots! It's still fast on Nougat, so no issues there either.
It also came at a price point that is similar to the S9, I simply could not justify paying for the S9+ but I would recommend it over the S9 if you don't mind paying a lot more.
We're entering an era where more gimmicks are going to be used, when battery life is more important, and sadly, batteries are not evolving as quickly.
If the S9+ is too big for you, and too pricey, I would recommend waiting another year of you still have an S7 Edge. It is still relevant.

Now I don't want to think of anything bad against you nor doing or saying something about me, but please check before you acuse me of spreading false information.

And we are talking about landscape photograph, not portrait. Samsung has different algorithms for that, while Sony isn't doing it, at least not that they have a separate mode specific for it.
I get what you are trying to point out to me though.

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2018Twice a day means bad battery sir..I forgot to mention one thing.
When she charges in the mid day, the battery is about to go down, like 30%, but then again she uses the phone so extensively for internet browsing.
When she charges at night, the battery is still fully filled, maybe around 60% to 70%, and she only fully fills it up again in order to be fully juiced the next morning.
Bad battery life is the definition for her previous phone, the LG G4.

I see people disappointed for the reason that, "not enough has changed from Note 8."

But honestly, what can you expect in just 6 months? Creating/ testing stuff takes time!

Even GSM Arena author wrote the Conclusion, as if f/1.5 didn't matter at all (over f/1.7).
He just says, a S8 owner should upgrade only if they need f/2.4 & 960 fps. Really?
What about 1080p240 and 4K60? Aren't they huge leaps? Double of before?

In my opinion, a whole lot had changed from Note 8/ S8 (for a 6 months cycle)... Loudspeakers, camera, video modes, slow motion modes, UI/ Android version, etc...

If you want huge changes, let companies make one flagship an year, by mutual agreement. That's it.

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2018Mali gou are very weakWhen alone, yes. A single G72 core is feeble. Couple 18 of them at 680 MHz (around that clock frequency. I think I've accidetally underclocked them here) and it's good preformance, not stellar, but decently good. I know the SD845 will be laughable in the CPU counterpart, but the Adreno 630 should kick some arses here)
