Though definitely better on scenes if I get it. I have even on occasion gotten longer shutters but definitely not consistently.
0.5 though usually as long as it's scenery or very still subjects. I just hate that you can't adjust the exposure at that point and that toy can't still use hdr in manual mode.

And S7 to S9 is a HUGE leap. It's not just "might be good". It's a whole different world from S7 to S9. (Few reasons why is the adjusting to the fact there are no more "physical buttons" and that you can position them however you like (and thanks to some mods in XDAdevelopers, tweak their appearance too, heck, even standard apps from GPS can be used to mod, second is the new FP placement, more comfortably placed than the 8, yes, the Iris/face scanner, [do you have a face scanner in S7? The answer is nope when it comes to security] and the absulutely gorgeous stereo speakers)

XZ2 has 25mm.
S9 has 26mm.
Hard to take fake bokeh with wide lens.
But Sony's Background Defocus requires the person to be half yard or less from camera.

Of course it is possible to get sharp images at 1/8s but you can't do it consistently. The focal length of the phone is around 28 mm (35 mm equivalent), and to get sharp images the shutter speed must be faster than 1/28 s (1/focal length, google for this rule if you are familiar with it). You won't want to use 1/8 s shutter speed for portrait shots. It's too slow for your hand and the subject.

Samsung phone looks good. That's the only thing. Samsung seems very incompetent on software dept. They cannot give timely update or even security patch. This is huge negative. I switched from iPhone 6s to note 8. Note 8 is having Dec security patch and android 7. It's not acceptable for a 1000$ phone. Looking forward for pixel 3 or next version of iphone. Not to mention Samsung makes cheap duplicate apps like it's own app store. In stead of making such duplicate apps they should consider developing current android. And give timely update.

S9 is not worth an upgrade from S8. It might be a decent upgrade from S7 though.
