Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact review

17 March 2018
It's once again peak smartphone season and Sony is next to join the annual spring race. But while others do regular and plus-size models, Sony, as usual, is going towards the other end of the spectrum with the new Xperia XZ2 Compact.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 21 Mar 2018It's always some blind fanboys arguing with haters and trol... moreActually it is because Sony has the most rabid fans bar none.

They also happen to make some of the worst phones out there, so when someone talks truth and sense , fanboys get triggered.

Sony does not have haters any more than any other phone company. If anything every company would of been bashed if they were to release a phone with a thick banana back.

The only dfference is that fanboys would protect Sony over anything... Thanfully their numbers are low, so Sony mobile is surely to close shop sooner than later, but it does perplex me to know/see how many fanboys are still falling to protect this compnay,

I mean last year's XZ premium was easily the worst flagship on most important metrics, yet it still got to 1000+ comments with fanboys safeguarding it. There is no dobut that it is/was a 5/10 phone yet they were arguing that it is a 9-10/10 phone. Who are they kidding?

Clash of fanboys and haters sending shots at each other, and u know how many accounts some trolls have, they spam there, this is always the case when it comes to articles talking about Sony smartphones...

It's pretty simple, no headphone jack, no buy. That should be the whole review.

                          > but Sony also waves goodbye to the analogue audio jack. There are some very welcome upgrades, though, which put the Xperia series in line with the current trends.

Ahaha. Nice groveling here, Sony will appreciate it.

It doesn't feel like a flagship.
It is cheaper however... but I'm thinking perhaps Sony was on the right path a couple of generation back, when they decided on a lower level chipset, to lower the price and possibly increase the batterylife.
They should have taken a look at the latest 6-series snapdragon. (the 7-series not being meant for phones, and not out yet, either).
If they could have squeezed a bit more battery out of the device, and reduced the cost. Without having the device feel sluggish, then they could have had a product that would have grabbed my interest.
Now it just feels like a flagship wanna-be, that misses the target.

Also... the size bump, for what is supposed to be a compact high end offerings, makes it feel like they have really missed the target.
It's closing in on the size of the competitors in a way, that it no longer feels like they actually managed to squeze more than expected in to a small package...

The resolution bump on the screen was absolutely necessary, though.

The headphone output, I assume is based on what is actually an external dac/amp, in the form of an adapter, and not an actual adapter accessing some analog path in the plug, thus the performance will depend on what "adapter" is used, and thus the performance can quite easily be improved. (but I don't like having to use "adaptors", as I regularly switch hedphones/headsets, and thus might risk forgetting the adaptor at home).

The worst Sony design ever, I'm officially done being a Sony fan if this is how the design is going to be. Ugly, fingerprint scanner is relocated from the best place ever to the worst place ever. Phone looks like a cheap Alcatel nock off. I hope they do something better with XZ Pro or premium 2

Some just need a phone that will last a full day of hard use, no matter what you throw at it. My particular case demands such battery enduance, and I'm not the only one.

Plus batteries that have to be charged less frequently age more gracefully, as they go through fewer charge cycles over time.
