Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact review

17 March 2018
It's once again peak smartphone season and Sony is next to join the annual spring race. But while others do regular and plus-size models, Sony, as usual, is going towards the other end of the spectrum with the new Xperia XZ2 Compact.

Sony, how about going for the stock Android next time? :D

sm4rt4ss, 18 Mar 2018I currently own Z3 Compact and this is my next phone. Or ma... moreAlso a Z3 compact user here.
With all these love/hate situations where my Sony disappointed me and then make me love it again, I still have second thoughts about going with the XZ2C...
Really liked the 720p for the small screen and also the low impact on the battery side.
This XZ2C really made me reconsider the XZ1C... Only if it had a better design(smaller bezels).
I you think about it, the Z3C has very small bezels, especially for it's time,.. Too bad my screen comes loose and unglue by itsel too often,..
    But, hey!
MAYBE there will, hopefully, be a better XZ3C this autumn. :))
From Z3 to XZ3, maybe the Z6 that never came out, but undercover. :))

Josephkarthic, 18 Mar 2018Hi Everyone, Im looking for a mobile phone camera with t... moreI assume you want to take pictures in entertainment venues or such. Unfortunately they are all crap in low light situations, I'm not aware what you intend to do with the pictures but if you want to print them or use them physically then forget about the cellphone camera.

I cannot recommend you any phone for low light as none of them do it all, some have better color reproduction at dark, some like Pixel completely kill the environment lighting in order to make object more neutral and so on. It's a game full of compromise.

The nearest equivalent is actually the Huawei P10. A tiny bit bigger but lighter, slightly slower, like an upgrade to the X compact, and somewhat cheaper.

(I also happen to think the iPhone 5-8 design is a bit too much like something in a mid-range jewellers, so I disagree with the reviewer - both the Sony and the Huawei look better to me.)

As usual, very difficult to believe in these battery life ratings used. My samsung s6 (2550ma) and honor 8 pro (4000ma) have similar battery rating in hours, however in real word usage the honor 8 pro is not far from twice as good. 2780ma is small, period.

Glad I got the XZ1 Compact and didn't wait.
            No Audio jack.
            worse battery.
            Larger all round.
            Heavier
            This is not a compact!

Im looking for a mobile phone camera with the BEST low light shooting...Can someone help?

AnonD-234961, 18 Mar 2018Sorry, I am probably unreasonable in expecting a new genera... moreWell you're not wrong, with lots of people deem 720p is just for low end phone these days, so 1080p screen upgrade is pretty logical when Sony's own midrange is simply a 1080p panel. not entirely agree but it is what the market wants, so the decrease of battery life is logical. But at least now people will simply choose based on size rather than battery life, i.e simpler options, no downgrade/power trading should be considered.

This would have been a prefect phone if it was a bit thinner and had an all metal/glass uni-body build .

If it is plastic build it should have hot-swap-able micro-SD/SIM card (which it does not) or it should have user-replaceable battery.

I want to get one as soon as possible. Better cam, better sound and new look (OK for me) I like compact series from first generation z1 compact and this one really deserves a good compliments. It's sad not to have a headphone jack but it's OK because I'll go for Bluetooth headphones this time.
