Honor 10 review

1 June 2018
we find ourselves in the odd position of reviewing the Honor 10 - a device which is substantially cheaper than the Huawei P20, and yet, it's surprisingly identical to the flagship device in so many ways. Huawei and Honor may be described as two sides of the same coin. Honor, being a Huawei sub-brand, has the benefit of having full access to its parent company technology and R&D. But when it comes to marketing strategy, the two companies couldn't possibly be looking in more different directions than they are.

The very similarly specced Honor View10 was available for quite a while at £330 in the UK.

The just before the Honor 10 launches, it shoots up to £450, with this occupying the £399 slot. Talk about playing the market.

I have this. Very decent mobile but it could be cheaper considering lots of missing tic boxes like 6 plus inches AMOLED, IP rating missing, etc... But it is a perfect iPhone replacement (could very well be iPhone X with IPS LCD).

It's AI features like portrait, lighting mode, facelock, looks really cool.

Performance is debt of not outrageous. Good enough for normal usages.

The same can be seen in any video of Honor 10. Please use your eyes instead of relying on numbers given to you by equiment which doesn't always tell the whole story.

There is a serious issue with how you test contrast ratio/black levels. I have both Honor 8 and Honor 10. In daylight the Honor 8 has significantly better contrast with deeper blacks, its so obvious to the eyes yet your numbers imply Honor 8 has worse black levels.

The Honor 10 screen is more reflective and in daylight the blacks are very bad as there seems to be a missing black filter you normally see on expensive phones with lcd screens. Your test method only measures the emitted light, something which is irrelevant in daylight, that only matters in darkness.

Does it not have capacitive buttons like the honor 9 anymore? Lackluster device, barely an upgrade. Hell out looks like a downgrade regarding certain parts.

oppo and nokia looks better shooters.

-No IP67 rating, don't dunk it in water
-Mediocre screen contrast in bright light

this is enough reasons not to buy, at max this is a 300$ for what u get nothing more....

Hi i will suggest you one thing no doubt huwaie is a good company but honor gave them pathetic customer service and its has charging issues which i found in 3 phones so far

The phone is ok was expecting more as honor 9 was way awesome for its price. Those cameras are good for someone with older flagship like me and AI is better than P20 overall its a nice phone not too good not too bad

So for the same price almost, you can get the Oneplus 6 with 6 gb ram and a bigger amoled screen.. and Snapdragon 845 which absolutely blows this away.. tough choice.. (not)

"There is a Night mode on the Honor 10 - this shot requires a tripod and up to 20s of waiting and in the end will give you one very dark photo, so we advise against using it - it's a complete waste of time."

Sounds unpleasing. But you can see on the result, it comes with excellent exposure and excellent details picture. Why GSMArena said otherwise?

Thats the price in my country, oneplus is better but price higher (price above $500, no longer called as flagship killer) no competition here. Both has fair price for the specs.

I'm eagerly waiting for $420 Xiaomi Mi 8 SD845 equipped review. Well specced phone for the price.

The OP6 is running the latest 845 SoC the Honor 10 last year's SoC Kirin, surely processing speed as to differ as far as the "cons" are concerned? Plus the OP and Nokia will most likely get Android P & Q months ahead of the Honor?
