No ideas whether to buy Nokia 8 sirocco or not? But still bring a good old school 16:9 display.

All manufacturers, PLEASE STOP USING "LG" MADE AMOLED SCREEN!!!!!! You are making your top of the line flagship phones look really bad, even though rest of the hardware is really good!!!! Either go with LCD screen, or go with SAMSUNG made AMOLED!!!!!

Sometimes I feel everyone expects just too much from Nokia's camera, it is arguably on par or better than flagships on market. Watching camera comparison on youtube with other flagships it seems everyone is getting to critical.

Interesting that the sunlight visibility rating is usefully higher on the LCD Nokia 8 than the pOLED Scirocco - that almost never happens and does indicate this is a bit of an average performing panel type.

Just used photo tool.
Compared to OP6 and both are awful. Samples of XZ1 and S8 are better.
Low light shots of N8S have ISO500, OP6 uses 2000

The mobile industry is in such a sad state that choices for pocketable phones come down to sirocco and meizu 15...

pros: size, android one
cons: curved second rate display, no headphone jack, old soc, price
meizu 15
pros: better display, headphone jack
cons: doesn't support all eu lte bands, old android version with a skin and no guarantee of updates

You can see some (small amount of) noise, but stills/videos are sharper than s9/p20p in comparison, bright/low light.
Auto settings and colors are not ideal but good enough if someone prefer sharper shots.

In my opinion you guys have one thing wrong around prices, it would seem that in many territories this phone is not being marketed / sold as a top tier 2018 competitor, in my country (South Africa) I can get a Nokia 8 Sirocco for 40% less per month on contract than a Galaxy S9, and about 20% less per month on contract than P20 Pro!

Original Sirocco was a class act. This one is just another slab of glass and metal.

I own this phone and largely agree with the review. Especially the blue display can be annoying. But to compare the 8 Sirocco to a Galaxy S9 is nonsense; I paid £495 in the UK and the cheapest S9 128Gb I can find is around £680 (both simlock free). I guess nostalgia is the biggest selling point for all current Nokia phones but they're doing great just coming back from the dead.
