Xiaomi Redmi S2 (Y2) review

22 June 2018
Every new Redmi has a seemingly impossible task - be a better bang for your buck than the previous one. And cheaper, or worst-case scenario - same price. If it were any other maker, it would have been a hard no can do. But not Xiaomi. It keeps doing it against the odds and here is the Redmi S2 to prove it.

Amit, 22 Jun 2018This video proves GSMArena should have reviewers team from ... moreTrue ....so many reviews I read that GSM arena mentioned that 267ppi was quite low....now they it doesn't matter because it's a Xiaomi?

Not saying this is a bad phone, you get a lot for the price but I'd save I little more to get a proper the display on a phone of this size

Amit, 23 Jun 2018They won't. from redmi 4 to redmi 6 , they only downgraded ... moreFrom Redmi 4 to Redmi 6, they did offer higher capacity storage, introduced the bezel less design, improved overall software, better dual cameras, and also better durability.
From Redmi Note 3 to Redmi Note 5, performance got a massive leap (don't let the Snapdragon 650 vs 636 fool you), battery life was improved, cameras and software are also improved, new bezel less design being incorporated, more storage capacity, and better availability too.

If they all care about is profit, then they shouldn't be making smartphones anymore since most of their profits are coming from their own 3rd party online services, mostly MIUI (and no, they aren't just exclusive to Xiaomi smartphones). They also have cheap yet high quality appliances and accessories, which is also more than enough to draw a lot of money to them back. This is the reason why Xiaomi smartphones are so cheap. They don't emphasize on this area too much, but they promise to make them worth it and still an overall very satisfactory feedback to all customers.
If they won't improve on their smartphones, they would rather stop making them instead, which is basically what's going to happen to them in the end if ever they do that.

Since they have captured Indian market, their focus is now on making more margins.

And you think Xiaomi won't do anything about Asus and Oppo??
Of course, this move just made Xiaomi to play better. Who knows, they might offer Snapdragon 660, FHD+ 18:9 bezel less, 4GB RAM, dual 12+12MP rear, 16MP front, USB C and headphone jack, 64GB base storage, Android One, and 4000mAh battery for only $120 in the near future.

Realme is oppo's first online exclusive phone and for Asus they didnt get succeed after Zenphone 2 at lest in india ,coz we indian are very price sensitive. so thats why they priced it very aggressively.

In india it's wrongly priced or say , this device doesn't make a sense.

However in other international market, it'll be good.

625 for $150 means we may finally get 636 for $200 Redmis.

The Redmi S2 maybe not a value-for-money phone in India and other emerging markets (Redmi S2 with 3 gigs RAM and 32 gigs internal storage in Indonesia sold for IDR2.6M/USD185), but in other markets will, especially the newly-expanded markets such as Europe
