Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi review

22 August 2018
Xiaomi's announcements have been relatively predictable so far, but the introduction of a new Poco sub-brand was a surprising move. It sounds like a marketing experiment - deliver flagship specs at cutthroat prices. Sound familiar? Well, it does remind of how OnePlus came to be, but we're not sure the new Pocophone F1 is headed in the same direction. Poco is still just a brand, and not a separate company and they stand on the shoulders of Xiaomi's logistics and after sales support network.

AnonD-720877, 22 Aug 2018Because there is only two (yes 2!) QC4.0 charger currently ... moreAbout the power efficiency you mentioned, SD845 uses a 10nm process while SD636 uses a 14nm process, that is why SD845 is more power efficient and more expensive.
All of Qualcomm platform series (2XX, 4XX, 6XX, 7XX and 8XX) have their specific use-cases, it is how OEMs price them that is the problem.
    Imagine the following setup:
    SD205, SD212 KaiOS phones less than 40USD
SD429, SD439 Andriod Go phones less than 100USD
    SD632 (replaces SD450, SD625, SD626), SD636 lower midrange phone less than 160USD
    SD660, SD670, SD710 upper-midrange phone less than 220USD (Essential PH-1 SD835 sold for 224USD just this week)
SD845 priced aggressively like Xiaomi POCO F1.

Oneplus don't give SD card slot, FM radio, stereo speakers, IR sensor, good battery life, proper face scanner and still calls it as flagship killer. We should have every thing(Not premium things like Amoled and glass body, but functional things that make a difference) in a flagship and that's what Xiaomi delivers at almost half the price point

Instead of wasting $300 on this ugly plastic phone. You can instead buy the metal-bodied Honor Play for almost the same price, yet it is far more premium looking than this, and has similar specs.

OnePlus had grown to be too expensive as the years pass.

In comparisons with oppo f7, both are opening appsand games at almost same speed, with marginal increase or decrease in both. And realms 1 is available with the same p60 processor like f7 but with half the price of honor play

As the previous droid maxx and droid turbo user, am I glad that kevlar is back in the game. I'm seriously considering this phone to replace my aging xperia xzs.

I am unable to think how they were able to get the snapdragon 845 with 6GB at a price of just INR 21,000. It is just incredible by xiaomi but i feel so sad for "honor PLAY" it is a great device but with pocophone xiaomi has taken all the limelight from Honor.

Damn, Xiaomi! Didn't expect you guys to make the most complete affordable flagship ever! This phone is near perfect!

Xiaomi FINALLY woke up to it's senses and added the app drawer to it's Poco MIUI theme!

Droidtard, 22 Aug 2018But guess what. It uses the same low quality LCD display, m... moreErr did you even read the review ? The screen used in the Pocophone has a highly calibrated display with an average delta of 0.9 which is incredibly accurate.

The Mi A2 lite has an average delta of 5.1 which is not very good. And the higher end Mi A2 has an even worse calibrated display.

So to sum up your post is highly incorrect and the Poco F1 has a highly calibrated display and is much better than the lower end screens.

Hey I can’t see the phone rating (like 4 out of 5) when viewing on the mobile website. It just shows up filled stars. Would be useful to have the value considering you give ratings like 4.7 out of 5 (like with the Note 9).

No NFC??? Oh man, they were so close. But I'm not paying 300 bucks for a phone in 2018 that can't do contactless payments. What a shame

I really like this phone, mainly for its plastic back (I really hate glass !), large battery, and price. But if you need a good camera, the OnePlus 6 delivers way more in terms of low-light performance and it also has a much higher video bitrate (which means much better video quality).
