Nokia 5.1 Plus review

8 Oct 2018
The Nokia 7.1 may have a dual camera and a tall-aspect screen like the Nokia 7 Plus, but otherwise, the new phone is a thorough update of its predecessor. It adds a faster processor, a bigger HDR-capable PureDisplay, better cameras, better build, modern design while retaining the reasonable price, the wide availability, and the Android One experience.

The 4/64GB version of the 5.1plus is not here in Nigeria. I tried to make order but it will take 60days to get here. Even the 3/32 version is scarce. Nokia has to do more to get this phone here in Nigeria

Why no real/usual audio test? Buyers with a smaller budget do also want the best possible/affordable sound quality!

Nokia X5 is not underclocked, why did they do it to the international 5.1 Plus?

'However, if a good quality display or long battery life are your criteria, then this isn't the right phone for you.'

Pretty sure, that there are a lot of people who doesn't care about screen quality nor battery life. Who needs them, it's only a smartphone.

Nothing too interesting about these Chinese phones, very generic. Why isn't HMD even trying to differentiate properly? Lightly customized UI and quick updates don't exclude each other.

They get SD636 for their X6
                              And P60 for their X5

As many medias always say Qualcomm is god, they were surprised to see that X5 was far faster than X6.

When they decided to release international versions of X5 and X6, they choose to downclock P60.
So that 5.1 Plus used 1.8Ghz cores like 6.1 Plus...
But that's not enough, even downclocked, P60 is still faster!

If seem's that qualcomm's optimisation isn't what Medias think!

Hey GSMa. I honestly admire your site for your news, views and reviews. Also for the lack of bias and saying things as they are. Your highlights are you full tests, especially battery endurance. I understand you may have your limitations testing some devices. But if you can't, I suggest you do a hands on video review and not this short version. Seems like a Nokia issue where even the 6.1 Plus was not a full review. Maybe they are being difficult providing review devices. You have the credibility to refuse. The 5.1 Plus is rather old. Doing an incomplete review looks bad when you guys usually are right up there with the latest devices. Just my suggestion. Keep up the good work.

One important question, is there an option to "disable" the notch? That queston is also important for the Nokia 7.1 I think.
