LG V40 ThinQ review

16 November 2018
Why choose between ultra wide and telephoto, when you can have both? That’s precisely what LG thought when designing the V40 ThinQ, the first smartphone to go both wider and longer than ‘normal’.

Last years V30 outlasts the Mate 20 Pro in the same test. It's not the size alone, it's the optimization as well.

What the hell happened to the impressive battery life of the V30?

Endurance of only 64 it's really a bad joke for professional users it need to be at least 150 before considering

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2018Lol...never even going to look at anyphone without 4000mah ... morewell i am not sure i totally agree with you,see i have an lg v30 and despite the 3300mah battery, it easily lasts me the whole day WITH AOD ON!so you see, it is not the size, the optimization also matters very much.and the v30 was apparently very well optimized.BTW, huawei needs to do something about their radios, the v30 with 3300mah battery last 12.30 hours more on calls than a p20pro with 4000mah battery!!!and on phone calls, it's all about battery!

I compared it with my best friend who has the s8+ and mine wins. Not by much but consistently. And it is enough to last a day no matter how heavy the use.

Battery life is a huge disappointment last year V30 lasted 94 hours what happened with V40

                    Pros
-Very light for its size without sacrificing premium looks and feel.
-Exemplary audio quality and great sounding speaker setup.
-Overall good still image quality, triple camera adds versatility.
-Class leading video-recording options, excellent end results too.
-microsd slot (albeit hybrid slot) as STANDARD
-3.5mm jack as STANDARD, with Quad DAC being a nice touch.
                    -Dual SIM
                    -FM radio support
                    -USB Type-C
                    -OLED display

                    Cons
-Unimpressive battery life, towards the bottom of the charts for the class.
-No truly accurate display in any color mode.
-The selfie side of the self-proclaimed Penta camera is a letdown.
-Hybrid SIM slot to use either microsd / nanoSIM. LG, please give us a 3 slot solution for both SIMS & 1 microsd card for convenience like what you last did on LG V20!!
-No IR Blaster. LG, please put it back where it belongs!! We were slightly disappointed that it wasn't there on LG V30 / V35.

There, editor, fixed it for you.

"Enabling the Quad DAC option makes the output even louder, while retaining the flawless output. Great job, LG, the V40 ThinQ is certainly among the best musicians of the year.. "

Sounds extremely music to our Android Truthers' / Users' / Fans' ears :D

lewein, 16 Nov 2018I don't know what LG is on, but in what world do they think... moreTrust me, it's just 3,300 mah but the endurance is far better than those with 4,000mah. Lg needs to tell its users that they use better batteries than its competitors.

Same old story, LG. Underwhelming again. Wish they wake up soon enough or just stay irrelevant like they are now. Capable devices and just poor software implementation. Used an LG G7+ ThinQ and still regret that decision. LG G4 had only battery as the con. Times change!

I hope LG reads this article, and changes things around for the better with the V50. Adding a larger battery, removing the notch, and vastly improving battery life would make it easier to live with, not to mention adding a display that better competes with Apple and Samsung flagships, in terms of color accuracy, and more.

Its useless to have 3300 or 3500...even 300 mah matters...huwai is really great, understands users value..people dont mind paying for worth content than these crappy battery phones.. not bothered about powersaving modes and stamina modes.hardware quality matters then software enhancements..
