Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, S10 5G handson review

20 February 2019
This year's first edition of one of the most exciting annual smartphone event has finally arrived - the tenth-generation Samsung Galaxy S flagship series has been Unpacked. For the first time it's four of them - three regular ones that everyone is going to get plus an extra special edition with a less mainstream appeal.

boring mobiles the only novelty the inverse load of the Huawei, record 4k HDR Xperia 2019 and a sensor in slow screen and with lag

S10E looks like the perfect phone that I would buy after the price drops in an year or so.

I love the S10e's specs! it's perfect for me and NOT AS HIDEOUS as I thought. I will switch my S9 (that behaves as an iPod touch) to the S10e to experience it.

Real 5G means: Small cells, D2D comm, massive MIMO, mmWave comm, beam forming. This is just another version of 4G. There are no Cat 20 (so called 5G) nets yet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_5G_NR_networks). Then, where are u gonna use this phone? Don't like this type of commercial manipulations. Prices are too high.
I don't have knowledge on camera and apps.
Very sorry for the negative comments :(

                    Thnx a lot...
My note 9 is better than tyese craps of more expensive...

Thanks for the first impressions! My initial impression of the devices follows.

Another phone batch I'd rather skip. Very expensive and doesn't bring anything new to the table. Screen cutout? I'd rather keep 16:9 screen. Side or under display fingerprint reader? I like the fact it exists in the first place, but placement doesn't really matter, mine's in the home button and it works just fine. Telephoto camera? Been there, seen that in $300 devices. Ultra wide - same as previous statement.

Reverse wireless charging? How could I ever live without that?! But wait, my S7 just barely lives through the day, what would that mean if I used reverse wireless charging? Ah, yes, that it would kill the battery in the middle of the day. I already carry around a charger, so using it is easier than using my phone as a reverse wireless charger, so no thanks.

What else was there? New snapdragon, why? I have a gaming PC for gaming, if I wanted a portable console I'd get either 3DS or Vita or Switch. My S7 is fine for simpler games. So, again, I don't need it.

I'm glad to see flat screen returns, my S7 Flat is wonderful (except for the fact it isn't really flat and I can't install a glass screen protector on it, so I had to do with a film). I tried to use Note 9 with its curved screen and I'm not a big fan of all the curves, they just get in the way, steal a bit of the screen and provide zero utility, zero features (they don't give you anything you can't have on a flat screen but make using the device a bit more difficult). It looks cool during first impression but at a second glance you see it is absolutely impractical.

Another boring batch of phones with practically zero new features. Zero of what I'd like to see. Even Xiaomi did a more interesting device with Mi 9.

nice.. how much will it cost for the s10 and s10+??

Thanks a ton ! I always wait with baited breath for your first impressions, especially for flagship launches. Your team has covered incredible details, for a first impression report. Kudos !

Just a small fly in the ointment. The following section in the report has couple of typos. Can you please fix those?

                          Synthetic benchmarks
The Galaxy S10 family *** it *** (should be is) powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 or Samsung's own Exynos 9820 chipset, depending on which part of the world you're in. Historically, the two versions haven't offered dramatically different performance, though there have been advantages to either one over the years. RAM starts from 6GB on the S10e and goes all the *** way *** (missing) up to 12GB on the ceramic version of the S10+. We got an S10+ in Exynos trim with 8GB or RAM and quickly ran some benchmarks.

Why ruin the already good design of S9? I don't need hole in my screen, while I might agree that it's less annoying than notch.

Can wait to see a review about the batery test on youtube. Trust me 10e & 10 will be got batery issue especially for gaming even u mamage your phones batery perfectly. Also your buyed it expensive then when u want to sell it back, the price will drop drastically. Plan wisely bfore buy some phone. Ask yourself are u buyed it.are u a gaming person or a camera & active sosial person.

Compact and usability wise, I think S10e wins for affordable flagship.

Shui8, 21 Feb 2019Meh nothing new. One UI seems good but covered with cartoon... moreI agree, even icons from MIUI look far more elegant than those from the new One UI. As for the rest of the UI it looks like a mix of EMUI, MIUI and vanilla Android which is weird considering how Samsung had the Android skin of their own style for years.

Does it support macro shots? Do you need autofocus on wide angle to take macro shots?

Kudos to Samsung for creating such beautiful phones that have practically no major compromise in feature set. I should also praise them for sticking to what they already had instead of trying out stupid ideas like putting a speaker on a charging port unlike some other companies, and yes, they kept the good old headphone jack! S10 is easily on the top in the list of phones I might buy this year. The reverse wireless charging sounds pretty cool too, though I wonder how much battery it will drain by using this feature as its power output is relatively high at 4.5W.

However, I gotta say that the cameras, the feature I care about the most, are quite underwhelming. Those low light samples look miserable with very pronounced corner softness and strong HDR artifacts, no details left on the floor tiles. Apart from the additional ultra wide angle lens it's essentially the same camera setup as last year's S9, no doubt that P30 Pro's quad cameras will trounce it with ease. Anyway I'll wait for in-depth reviews to come out to see if it's really worth getting one for myself.
